10 Healthy Eating Secrets for Better Fitness and Energy
We’ve covered which foods are best to eat to be fit as part of your prep for the auditions. We’ve also talked about healthy desserts as well as the best pre-workout and post-workout food and snacks. But no matter how many options and suggestions are presented, it will always be hard to stick to a fit and healthy regime without the right techniques.
So now let’s explore 10 secrets to make you fitter and more energetic as the auditions approach. On top of healthy eating, we've also added some tips on resting, hydration, and training.
1. Prepare healthy food in advance
This is a fail-safe strategy in case you run out of food or you get bored and snack. Having all of the healthy foods in your fridge minus the unhealthy ones will ensure that whenever you get stressed, binge, or mindlessly eat, you’re still eating healthy.
2. Get rid of cravings and temptations
As a follow up to #1, throw all your stress food away. Love chocolates? Throw them out. Can’t live without those high-carb chips? Challenge yourself and throw them out now. Make sure that when you’re tempted to eat something unhealthy, it’s not available.
3. Be realistic and "cheat" once in a while
Eating to your cravings sometimes won’t hurt, nor will it suddenly make you fat. Its purpose is to inspire you in eating healthily and give you something to look forward to on a fitness regimen.
4. Don’t skip a protein-rich breakfast
Most fast in the morning when undertaking a fitness regime. Don’t be one of them, you don’t want to be feeling and looking drained until lunch. It’s the extra carbs and calories that make you fat, not the protein. Instead, eat a lot of protein to keep you full throughout the morning.
5. In with the fiber and out with the added sugar
If you want to eat a satisfying meal without worrying about gaining extra weight, then go for the green leafies. Like what I said before, it’s the extra calories and carbs that contribute to those extra pounds.
6. Explore treats without sugar
If those chocolates or chips are crying for your attention, find alternatives with healthy ingredients. Be sure to check the label behind for some hidden sugars.
7. Don’t be ashamed to rest and do it without distractions
Feeling sleepy mid-day?? Take a nap. About to end the day with an evening slumber? Turn the TV off and keep your phone away. Don’t feel bad for being tired, it's just your body’s way of telling you to recover.
8. Stay hydrated on time
One way to combat hunger throughout the day is to drink water. Hydration helps you in improving your metabolism, digestion, and makes fat burning easier.
9. Enjoy while training
Find some workout exercises that you’d actually enjoy and not avoid. Love to run? Go for jogs. Love the feeling of wind and speed? Go biking. Or if you love strength training, lift those weights.
10. Keep yourself distracted
Boredom also contributes to being lazy and eating unhealthily. Find some new hobbies to spend in your free time. Grow flowers or be a gym regular. Explore and move out of your comfort zone.
The best way to achieve better fitness and energy levels is to put yourself in a place where eating healthy and getting proper rest is the only choice. But at the same time don’t forget to have fun and remember your goal that you’re all doing this to pass the auditions and achieve your dream of being a professional cheerleader.
