Auditions are fast approaching for the NBA Charlotte Hornets Honeybees Dancers. Do you see yourself dancing side by side with your cheer sisters? In this guide, we’re going to show you the details of the upcoming tryouts this 2018, including an overview of your dream team.
Who are the Charlotte Hornets Honeybees Dancers?
Popularly known as the Honeybees, these dancers are the official cheerleaders to the NBA Charlotte Hornets. The squad’s name was changed to the Charlotte Lady Cats in 2002 but became the Honeybees again in 2014.
The Honeybees are fine women with great personalities. They perform at home games, make appearances, join photo shoots, get tickets to Hornets games, and enjoy media exposure. If you succeed to become a Honeybee this year, you’ll have memorable experiences with your cheer sisters. You’ll learn from each other and forge great friendships.
What is the schedule for the 2018 tryouts? What are the requirements?
- Auditions date: June 2, 2018
- Time and place: Registration starts at 7 PM and auditions start at 8 PM @ the Spectrum Center.
- Prep classes: Classes will start this coming April 25,

Overview of the prep classes:
The Honeybees will be offering 3 prep classes to help you get ready and increase your chance of success during the tryouts. These are the prep classes:
- April 25 - Fitness trainers will evaluate your current level of fitness. They’ll teach you a workout and give expert advice.
- May 17 - This prep class covers expert tips on how to look your best as a Honeybee. There’ll be free beauty samples for this session.
- May 31 - Learn the same choreography which will be taught on the audition day. You get the opportunity to ask everything you want to know about the squad.
The Honeybees dance team recommends that you participate in at least 1 prep class.
Overview of the auditions and qualifications:
Wear complete hair and makeup, dance shoes, and midriff top and shorts that feature Hornets colors. Secure your own snacks and water.
To participate in the auditions, you need to be at least 18 years old by June 2. Show a valid ID. A Bee Camp week will be held from June 3 to June 8. Be available on these days.
In terms of judging, the judges will look for qualities such as dance skill, showmanship, fitness, appearance, and personality. A formal dance training is not required but appreciated.
