The NBA Washington Wizards Dancers will be holding their 2019 auditions very soon. Today, we’re giving you details of their upcoming tryouts. If you're planning to join this awesome team, here's a quick overview:
OPEN CALL AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, JULY 27, AT TRINITY WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY. REGISTRATION BEGINS AT 9:00 AM.
Qualifications, Requirements, and What the Judges Look for

The Washington Wizards are looking for dancers who can be part of their male and female dance squad. You need to be at least 18 years old by September 1, 2019, and be a part-time student or hold a part-time job. If you make the team, you should be able to attend 35 out of 41 home games and all evening rehearsals, and participate in a certain number of appearances.

Wear and Bring the Following
Make sure that you wear:
- Professional dance audition attire
- Sneakers or dance shoes/boots with non-marking soles
Bring these to the auditions:
- Non-returnable headshot and full-body shot
- Completed waiver and professional dance resume
- Food and drinks to keep you energized
- Items to freshen yourself up in between rounds
Overview of the Auditions
The open call auditions will be closed to the public. There will be 3 rounds during the preliminaries, and those who will proceed to the final round shall be announced at the end of the day.
You will be judged based on the following: appearance, dance style and technique, personality, energy and projection, and attitude.
Prep Classes
To help you get ready for the auditions and increase your confidence, the Wizards Dancers are offering 4 prep classes on June 27, July 9, July 11, and July 16. Each class costs $25. These classes will teach you Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Freestyle.

About the Wizards Dance Team

Since July 2018, the all-female dance team was replaced with a co-ed dance team called the Wizards Dancers. This awesome dance team serves as ambassadors for the NBA Washington Wizards. Currently, the team has 29 members. Some of them are rookies, while others are in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th year. If you're interested in the squad, visit this page to read about each member.
