2020 NFL Washington Redskins Cheerleaders Auditions Info

Auditions are fast approaching! I'm sure you're excited to become part of an NFL pro cheerleading/dance team. Is it the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders? Because they've already released this year's audition details. Here's what you need to know about the auditions and getting yourself prepared!

Audition Rounds and Other Details

Here are their 2020 audition dates and registration details:

  • March 27, 2020, Friday
    • Registrations (6:00 pm)
    • Interviews (7:00 pm)
  • March 28, 2020, Saturday (Two rounds of cuts will be made during this time)
    • Check-In (8:00 am)
    • Welcoming remarks (8:45 am)
    • Preliminary Auditions: Freestyle and Technique (Starts at 9:00 am and ends at 11:00 am)
    • Announcing of Quarterfinalists (11:30 am)
    • Quarterfinalists Rehearsal Routines and Kicklines for the Semifinal Rounds (12:00 pm)
    • Break (1:30 pm)
    • Quarterfinalists dance performances (2:00 pm)
    • Auditions end (4:30 pm)
    • Announcing of semifinalists (5:00 pm) 
  • March 29, 2020, Sunday (A few rounds of cuts will be made during this period including the announcement of finalists)
  • March 30, 2020, Monday
    • Finalists Swimwear and Uniform Photoshoots with Video Shoots 
  • Finalists Rehearsals and Interviews (6:30 pm - 10:30 pm) on the following dates:
    • March 31, 2020, Tuesday
    • April 1, 2020, Wednesday
    • April 2, 2020, Thursday
    • April 3, 2020, Friday
    • April 6, 2020, Monday
    • April 7, 2020, Tuesday
    • April 8, 2020, Wednesday
  • April 9, 2020, Friday
    • Final Auditions 

(All of the preliminary audition rounds and finalists rehearsals are closed to the public and will be held at FedExField: 1600 FedEx Way, Landover, MD 20785.)

Qualifications and What the Judges Look for

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by April 9, 2020, with no maximum age limit.
  • Must be a high school graduate or have G.E.D. by June 2020.
  • Must look physically fit.
  • Must relocate to Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
  • No minimum or maximum weight or height requirement.
  • Minimum requirements for aspiring cheerleaders are a full/part-time job, or attend school full time, or have a family.
  • If tattoos are visible, cover with makeup at all times, especially when wearing uniform or practice wear
  • Facial and body piercings must be removed when wearing uniform and practice wear.
  • All aspirants are required to submit their applications with a recent full body photo while wearing athletic wear.
  • For your video introduction in your application, think about the elevator pitch. Tell us about yourself in a minute or a half.
  • Prep classes aren't necessary but it is highly encouraged that you should attend as many as possible.

Audition Attire and What to Bring

Please wear the following to the auditions:

  • Any outfit of color and style, but must be two pieces (crop top/sports bra and dance trunks/briefs/shorts). Torso must be visible. If you wish to order a costume, you may do so from thelineup.com. Keep in mind the judges need to be able to picture what you would look like in the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders uniform.
  • Sample audition attire will be available for purchase during our Bonus Workshop & Vendor Showcase.
  • Flesh-colored pantyhose.
  • Dance sneakers, dance boots, or jazz shoes.

Please bring the following to the auditions:

  • Bring lunch or snacks and a water bottle.
  • Extra audition outfit and tights. Just in case anything happens.
  • If you have not attended a Prep Class, please bring $60 cash, money order or credit card for the registration fee.
  • If you have attended the prep classes, the audition is free.

Preparatory classes

Join to learn exactly what it takes to make the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders squad!

  • Preparatory classes (7:30 pm - 9:30 pm) on the following dates
    • March 3, 2020, Tuesday
    • March 5, 2020, Thursday
    • March 10, 2020, Tuesday
    • March 11, 2020, Wednesday
    • March 17, 2020, Tuesday
    • March 18, 2020, Wednesday
    • March 19, 2020, Thursday
    • March 24, 2020, Tuesday
    • March 26, 2020, Thursday
  • A 10-day class package costs $300.00 when registered on February 28, 2020, Friday
  • There is also a 3-day prep class series package at $100.00
  • Tuesday and Wednesday prep classes that fall under the Three Day Series Package (March 10 - 11, 2020 and March 18 - 19, 2020) are available for individual purchase at $40 each. Walk-up registrations accepted on Tuesday and Wednesday of series.
  • Thursday prep classes that fall under the Three Day Series Package (March 12th and March 20th) are not available for individual purchase.
  • A single class is worth $40.00 and walk-in registrations are accepted
  • The Squad Audition Application Fee of $60.00 will be waived if you participate in one or more Preparatory Classes.
  • On March 14, 2020, Saturday, there will be a playbook workshop with a guest speaker and vendor showcase where the sample audition attire will be available for purchase.

The Redskins Cheerleading squad, also known as the “First Ladies of Football” is the longest-running cheerleading team in the NFL. Founded in 1962, the squad was originally named the Redskinettes. The members adorned in burgundy and gold strive for only one thing - to make a difference. They make 200 appearances locally and 60 plus military appreciation tours internationally. The First Ladies’ core values are supported and founded by one of the largest Cheer Alumni Associations in the league.
