2021 NBA LA Clippers Spirit Dance Team Auditions Info

Auditions are fast approaching! I'm sure you're excited to become part of an NBA dance team. Is it the Los Angeles Clippers? Because they've already released this year's audition details. Here's what you need to know about the auditions and getting yourself prepared!
Audition Rounds and Other Details
Here are their 2021 audition dates:
- Preliminary rounds will start at 9:00 am Pacific Standard Time on July 3, 2021, Saturday.
- Candidates who advance to the next round will be given a private link to the details of the semifinals at 9:00 am on June 10, 2021.
- The final rounds of the audition will be held in person on July 24, 2021, at 9:00 am PST. The specific venue where the final round will be held is yet to be announced. However, expect it to be in the Los Angeles area. You will be responsible for your own travel arrangements.
Here are their audition round details:
- The auditions will be hybrid. This means it will be a combination of virtual and in-person audition rounds.
- Register for the preliminary audition rounds through this link.
- The preliminary rounds will be a video upload of you dancing a freestyle routine to any song of your choice.
- You’re also required to upload a photo of yourself and fill out some quick Q&A.
- The management of the LA Clippers pro cheer team will host a Facebook live session teaching the Clippers Spirit choreography for the semifinalists.
- You’ll have an hour to learn the choreography and another hour to record and upload your video performing the taught routine.
- During the final rounds, you’ll learn a new choreography to perform before the judges. This will be a major factor in deciding on whether you’ll make the 2021-2022 Clippers Spirit roster or not.
- You’ll also have a group interview during the final rounds.

Qualifications and What the Judges Look For
Qualifications and requirements:
- You must be 18-years-old and above to audition.
- Candidates must be high school graduates or have a G.E.D.
- Pro cheerleading is a part-time career. Most squads prefer their candidates to be working full-time, part-time, or studying for tertiary education.
Judging Criteria
- You must be able to accurately perform complex and hard-hitting routines that are taught by the LA Clippers dance team choreographers.
- Showmanship in the judging criteria isn’t specified but you must show your ability to entertain a crowd through your dancing and poise.
- Additional judging criteria may be given through the private link you’ll receive after registering for the auditions.
Audition Attire and What to Bring
The LA Clippers Spirit management didn’t specify what to wear for the audition rounds. Additional instructions regarding your audition attire may be given through the private link sent by the Clippers Spirit management.
On the final rounds of the auditions, bring your own food and water as well as other audition necessities such as cosmetics and hair styling tools.
Prep Classes

The LA Clippers Spirit offers four audition prep classes for the month of June. They will all be held on Saturdays at 10:00 am PST with a $15.00 fee per class. Each class teaches different elements of the Clippers Spirit’s dancing style. They are hip hop, heels, power and tricks, and jazz-funk classes. To enroll in the classes, visit this link.

Just like the Cowboys Cheerleaders of the NFL, the Clippers Spirit also has their own reality TV show. The squad is composed of 19 beautiful women between the ages of 18 to 28 years old. They are known for their alternative uniform color schemes of blue, red, black, and white. When the Clippers have no games, they do make public appearances by attending charity events for children in the Los Angeles area.
