Audition Attire Guidelines

Attire varies by audition round and is designed to help judges clearly assess technique, conditioning, and performance quality.

Preliminary and Semi-Final Rounds:

A two-piece leotard or sports bra with dance shorts and skin-tone or matte tights is required. Male candidates may wear a t-shirt and athletic shorts.

Final Round:

Finalists will complete a business interview in professional business attire. For the final performance, team-issued tops will be provided. Finalists must supply their own black bottoms, following example photos from preliminary submissions.

Program Rules and Uniform Policies

Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders receive their official uniform and practice wear at no cost. Cheerleaders are responsible for maintaining all issued items, including poms, shoes, boots, and warm-ups. Lost or damaged items must be replaced at the cheerleader’s expense. All team property must be returned by final auditions for the following season.

Rehearsal and Game Commitments

Rehearsals typically take place twice per week, with additional sessions added as needed. Tentative rehearsal days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30–9:00 p.m. in the Metro Atlanta area.

Attendance is critical. Missing a rehearsal before a home game means you cannot perform at that game, and missing a game may result in dismissal from the squad. If you cannot attend all rehearsals and home games, auditioning is not recommended.

Cheerleaders perform at all preseason and regular-season home games. While they do not travel to away games, there may be invitations to special events such as the Super Bowl or exhibition games.

Audition Preparation and Judging Criteria

Judges evaluate candidates on appearance, showmanship, dance and cheer ability, and physical fitness. There are no height or weight requirements, and previous squads have included members ranging from 4’9” to 5’10”.

For preliminary auditions, candidates must submit two eight-counts of straight front kicks and a 45-second freestyle or improv solo to music of their choice. Virtual and hybrid audition prep classes are strongly encouraged and are open even to dancers who do not plan to audition.

Audition Tips

  • Build stamina, flexibility, and strength well in advance
  • Keep technique clean and precise
  • Perform full-out with confident, controlled energy
  • Wear secure, comfortable attire that allows full movement
  • Review practice and prep videos to polish performance
  • Choose music that highlights your personality and performance style
  • Maintain a professional attitude at every stage of the process

Final Thoughts

Being an Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader is not a full-time job. Members receive compensation per home game, per practice, and for select paid appearances, and all cheerleaders must audition each year. If this commitment aligns with your passion, discipline, and schedule, the 2026 Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader auditions may be your moment to step forward and shine.
