3 Homemade Lip Scrubs for Pro Cheerleaders

Perfectly polished lips might seem like a small detail, but for pro cheerleaders, they’re part of the full performance package. Between outdoor games, long practices, and full glam makeup days, lips take a beating. A good scrub helps keep them smooth, soft, and lipstick-ready. Here are three simple homemade lip scrubs that deliver real results without fancy ingredients.
1. Coconut Sugar Buff
This one is gentle but effective, great for weekly maintenance. Coconut oil is naturally moisturizing, and the sugar crystals lift away dry skin without being too harsh.
What you’ll need:
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 2–3 drops of vanilla extract (optional)
How to make it:
Mix everything until it forms a grainy paste. If it feels too runny, add a touch more sugar.
How to use:
Rub a small amount on your lips in tiny circles for about 20–30 seconds, then wipe or rinse away. Follow with a hydrating balm. This scrub is perfect for keeping your lips smooth through a long season without over-exfoliating.
2. Honey Coffee Energizer
When your lips feel dull or flaky—especially on game days—this scrub wakes them up. Honey draws in moisture, while finely ground coffee provides a deeper exfoliation and boosts circulation for a natural plump.
What you’ll need:
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon finely ground coffee
- A few drops of warm water (only if needed)
How to make it:
Combine the honey and coffee until they form a thick paste. If it’s too sticky, a tiny drop of warm water helps loosen the texture.
How to use:
Massage onto your lips for 20–30 seconds. Let it sit for another 30 seconds if you want extra softness, then rinse. It’s a great pick-me-up before applying bold lipstick or gloss.
3. Brown Sugar Mint Smoother
This one feels refreshing and leaves your lips super soft. Brown sugar is softer than white sugar, and the mint gives that cooling, tingly finish—perfect after long outdoor practices or hot performances.
What you’ll need:
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1–2 drops peppermint oil (or a tiny bit of crushed mint)
How to make it:
Stir the ingredients together until everything is evenly coated. Adjust with a little more brown sugar if you want extra texture.
How to use:
Gently scrub your lips for 20 seconds, then rinse. The mint helps your lips feel fresh, and the olive oil leaves behind a subtle sheen, so your balm or gloss applies smoothly.
Final Thoughts
Regular lip care might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of pro cheer performance, but it makes a difference. Smooth, hydrated lips hold color better, photograph cleaner, and feel more comfortable during long days on the field or court. These simple scrubs take only a minute to make and even less time to use, but they keep your lips looking camera-ready all season long.
