4 Strategies To Stay Focused On Training For The Pro Cheer Tryouts

Anyone who dreams of achieving a goal feels motivated at the beginning. That intense focus you had at the start eventually fades and you find yourself distracted, doubtful, and less confident. Planning is fun, getting the work done is HARD. Yes, it is hard!

Nobody said that being consistent in your actions is easy. But that's where growth and transformation happens - when you push harder towards your dream of making your cheer squad. Step outside your comfort zone no matter how uncomfortable it is and you'll make a huge positive impact. You will feel more empowered, stronger, and in control of your future.

Are you ready to manage your attention better? Do you have the willingness to go all out? Here are the best strategies for you to stay focused on training for the fast approaching pro cheer auditions.

1. Let go of perfection.

When you are setting goals, it's common to put too much pressure on yourself. Most of the time, your inner self-demands are unrealistic. Seeking for perfection can undermine your authenticity. Keep in mind that what worked for others may not work for you. If you know of women who did XYZ and achieved their desired outcome within a very short timeframe, don't immediately expect to get the same results.

Someone will always be better than you and you are definitely better than someone else today. Let go of an all-or-nothing thinking. If you missed working out three days in a row or doing your early morning meditation, it doesn't mean you've failed yourself. Be in control by doing what you can at this very moment to make things better. Stop ruminating and just keep going! Ask yourself, WHAT SHOULD BE MY NEXT BEST MOVE?

2. Know that success is worth any price you pay.

Criticism. Fear. Doubt. Hard work. If these are the price you pay for success - for a better you, would you risk going through them? I would! Being proud of myself is worth every work that needs to be done. The reason why most people love the idea of reaching a goal but fail to do the work is that success feels great but work does not. Work is unpleasant. Work feels awful.

If you want to make your dream cheer team, you have to do the work with one hundred percent effort - no matter how menial or hard it is. You pay for the choices you make. You'll fall multiple times and experience frustration. But you can use these to your advantage.

Veteran cheerleaders have made their team year after year because they believed in sowing and reaping. They invested.

3. You already know enough! Now get moving.

We often hear ourselves saying, "I need to know more before I can get started," or "I'm not yet ready because I still need to read/watch/listen to..."

Enough. You know a lot already - more than enough for you to get started. So what's holding you back? There is always more to learn. The world has limitless knowledge. Waiting until you get every information about health, fitness, beauty, and motivation won't take you to where you want to be. Act now based on what you've learned so far and correct yourself as you go along. Experience always wins.

Do your best not to get distracted with too many choices! Like oh, they say this works better than that.. or this looks more promising, etc. Be aware of the fact that it is in our nature to always look for the next best thing and that can stop us dead in our tracks. Don't allow too many options to keep you from focusing on what's important.

4. Don't allow your emotions to determine your actions.

Passion is wonderful. But the problem with passion is that it isn't constant. Somehow it dwindles - depending on your current mood and life circumstances. And then we realize that success comes to those who have the grit to do the same things over and over again, no matter how boring they become. When you rely on passion all the time to get you amped up, you won't be consistent. You will only get as far as your emotions will take you.

Learn how to master your feelings, especially when things get hard. It's easy to do anything when you're happy. It pays to know what triggers boredom and negative self-talk. Don't judge these feelings. Acknowledge them but don't act on them. Perhaps your sadness or disappointment is telling you that you need to do something. Then change the way you feel by doing the work. You know what needs to be done.
