5 Fitness Resolutions to Make That Support Your Pro Cheer Audition Goals

2020 presents aspiring cheerleaders an opportunity to start fresh. When it comes to resolutions, fitness is a common aspect that most women struggle with. Why don't you make fitness your new area of focus next year? After all, increasing your fitness level has tremendous benefits. It'll make you physically stronger, flexible, mentally tough, and more confident!

Fitness resolution #1: Find opportunities to be more active. 

Getting fitter doesn't only mean working out at the gym. That isn't always possible. So what you should commit to instead is to make the most out of every circumstance. Even on days when you don't get to workout, choose to remain active. Take the stairs. Play with your pet or kid. Walk for 15 minutes after lunch. Park as far away from the office entrance as you can. 

Fitness resolution #2: Drink more water. 

Water is the BEST thing to drink to stay hydrated. Hydration is important especially for active people. Studies show that it maximizes your physical performance, increases satiety, and boosts your metabolic rate for weight loss.

Fitness resolution #3: Cut back on bad carbohydrates.

Bad carbs include processed foods, sweet treats, white bread, white rice, and juices with preservatives. These foods contain refined sugar that lead to weight gain by promoting insulin resistance. Make sure that your energy comes from healthy and natural sources like sweet potatoes, blueberries, and whole grains.

Fitness resolution #4: Keep a journal of your fitness progress.  

Keeping a journal of your progress is a simple way to stay on track with your goals. You'll find that it can be very useful for keeping you motivated. It also helps you to get creative with your workouts. In your journal, specify the time and date of your workout, the exercises you did (including the weights and reps), and how you felt afterward. You can also include non-workout related information such as your body fat percentage, appetite, and mood!

Fitness resolution #5: Follow a schedule.

You may be a busy mom or student, but you can definitely find time to workout. Scheduling your workouts enables you to get them done each day - without affecting other areas of your life. Identify a specific hour in your day when there's no interruption and everybody else is busy with their own thing. Most people identify early mornings (before 5 or 6 am) as the best opportunity for working out. If you're going to follow an early morning workout routine, be sure to sleep early at night and set an alarm.
