5 Natural and Simple Beauty Tips for Any Skin Type

You'll probably agree with this: Skincare can oftentimes be confusing! There are way too many hacks and products that promise to improve your complexion and keep your skin problem-free. It can be difficult to know the essentials of beauty an aspiring pro cheerleader. So today, I've rounded up a list of tips that cover all skin types. Keep reading.

1. Keep your stress in check.

Did you know that too much stress can show up on your skin? The saying, "Beauty starts from within" is in fact, real. According to WebMD, stress triggers a chemical response in your body that makes your skin more sensitive. This explains oiliness, acne, and rashes during stressful times. Practice stress management techniques such as yoga and meditation. Get enough sleep at night.

2. Quit eating refined sugar.

Sugar is not just sugar. It's responsible for inflammation which then aggravates skin conditions like acne and eczema. And yes, refined sugar accelerates skin aging by promoting the release of Advanced Glycation End Products or AGEs. One of the ways to start reducing sugar in your diet is to replace all sugary drinks with water. Ditch foods that are suprisingly high in sugar.

3. Always do a patch test.

Patch testing is the only way for you to know if your skin will react badly to a product or not. As aspiring pro cheerleader, you may be constantly finding products that give you the best skin. At least get an idea of how your skin responds to a formula by doing a patch test.

4. Sunscreen is everything.

The sun feels good, but it can be unsafe to your skin. Sunscreen minimizes your skin's exposure to UV rays which cause premature wrinkles and skin cancer. Even on cloudy days, make sure to wear sunscreen. Choose broad spectrum sunscreen to ensure that your skin is protected from both types of harmful UV rays - UVA and UVB.

5. Make skin hydration a priority.

A well-hydrated skin is resilient. It has better elasticity and has a reduced appearance of wrinkles. There are plenty of ways to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. The first tip I'd like to share is to pick the right moisturizer for your skin type. For example, if your skin is dry, you may need a moisturizer that's thick. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, get a moisturizer that's non-comedogenic. Another simple tip is to avoid hot showers. Hot showers can disrupt keratin cells, leading to dryness.

Taking good care of your skin in preparation for pro cheer auditions (and beyond) doesn't have to be complicated and expensive! Don't ignore knowing your skin type because this will help in choosing the best skin product for you. Thanks for reading!
