5 Tips to Help You Recover from a Failed Audition
Every year, hundreds of talented and beautiful women audition for a professional cheerleading team. And every year, most get rejected. Whether it's your second audition or your nth time after years of coming back, you need to prepare for everything — including failure.
1. Prepare for failure
Every year, lots of confident women come to auditions having prepared months beforehand. Their preparations all lead up to one moment — their moment to impress the panel of coaches, director, and other judges. But they did not prepare for failure. No one comes to the auditions wanting to fail. Still, you have to face the reality that the probability of getting cut is higher than making it to the next round. Auditioning for pro cheerleading is, after all, a numbers game. Don't leave it up to yourself to react when the moment comes.
2. Prepare to learn a few lessons
You may have missed the cut but you won't miss the lessons. If you can get specific feedback from the coaches, do so, even the other girls can give you helpful feedback. In the process, you may learn how to improve. You can gain a better understanding of what the panel of judges is looking for. You can learn that you can never be too prepared or too early.
3. Thank yourself for all the hard work
You need to be able to see what you have done in the months leading up to the auditions. All the dance lessons, late nights at the gym, and spending on improving your look — they are worth it. Because you can now enjoy a fitter, more beautiful, and more graceful you!!!
4. Focus on your transformation
If you only focus on the event and the mistakes you made, you'll miss the chance to see how much you've grown. You are not the same woman you were when you first acted on this dream. You are stronger now. Even in the arduous process, the coaches pushed you farther because they can see the potential. So be mindful of your transformation and know that from here on, you can only be better!
5. Make up your mind
When you don't make it through the cut, you can: Try again or pursue a different path. Should you decide to try again, consider local and semi-pro teams. Joining a semi-pro team can be great to get lots of practice, feedback, and experience. You can also try out for different teams. It doesn't have to be a certain team to fulfill that dream. Then again if you have your heart set on that team, start your preparations now for next year. You can be a better professional cheerleader for that team in the future because you worked hard to fight for your dream.
Parting Words
In the day of the audition, you will meet first-timers and those who never wavered in their determination after years of rejection. These are women who, like you, worked their asses off to be in this moment. And these women have a lot of respect for each other. Even after many rejections, they only become more hopeful and optimistic. Only after this entire process is over can you see why pro cheerleaders are so optimistic and never fail to wear their smiles.
