7 Hacks to Make Your Makeup Last Longer
Pro cheer auditions usually take an entire day and while the event expects you to stay for the whole duration, goes the same with your makeup. A short-lived makeup is a hassle for candidates as it adds to the least of things that they should worry about. To keep you three steps ahead of your game, here are the tips to make your makeup stay longer on your face.
1. Fresh Start
A good skin condition for applying makeup means having the lowest amount of oil on it as possible. Natural skin oils cause the makeup to crease and shine. Make sure that you use a cleanser made for your skin type to remove dirt and excess oil.
Gentle exfoliators for twice a week remove dead skin cells and smoothen the surface of your skin. This will make your next application stick better, be applied more evenly. After blotting and cleansing your face dry, apply an oil-free moisturizer with a minimum of SPF30.
2. On Your Prime
To put on a primer is optional. However, using it locks the moisturizer to your skin and pores, resulting to a smooth and even surface for applying makeup. It also prevents your makeup from being absorbed thus giving it more power to stay longer on your face.
3. The Right Foundation
Matte foundations are the best choice for oily faces as they soak up the excess oils. Avoid the heavy oil-based foundation as they easily slip and slide off the skin. For faces that aren’t oily, a long-lasting foundation formula would also be suitable. Thin layers of coverage are better than the single thick ones. It is because they would last longer, look natural, and reduce creasing and caking on the makeup.

4. Settle Down
After turning your gorgeous face into a more beautiful form of art, time to seal it with a setting powder or a setting spray. Doing this will stop liquid products from moving around and sliding off your face, and it puts your foundation in place.
5. Layered Lips
It is hard to make lip products last, it is expected that you will be reapplying almost always to keep your makeup having a seamless look for the entire day. Use lip liners first before your lipstick to add a backup defense. It also helps reduce the chances of smudging when reapplying the lipstick for the lipstick wouldn’t necessarily touch the edges of your lips during a retouch.
6. Blotting
Sometimes mistakes get worse because we panic to fix it. This goes the same with reapplying foundation because it messes up the original setup of the first application. Small errors require small solutions and not a total renovation. Use blotting paper for these situations.
7. Hands off
Even if it is your work, you should leave the finished product as it is. Don’t let others touch your face and don’t touch it yourself. A work of art is made to be admired, not tampered with.

Making your makeup last longer shouldn't be difficult. With these tips, you'll be able to prep your face and go through the auditions without having those worst makeup moments.
