7 Small Things Aspiring Pro Cheerleaders Can Do to Start the New Year Right

Who doesn’t love the New Year? It’s the perfect time to reflect on the things that happened during the previous year and make plans to improve in the next. For women who aspire to become pro cheerleaders, it’s also a time to start acting on their goals.

Have you already considered the steps to take to make your team? I know there are a lot of areas to work on in your journey. But don’t get overwhelmed! If you want to create victories, START SMALL. That’s what I would like to share in today’s article - 7 little things you can do to kick-start the year.

1. Do your research on pro cheerleading.

If this is your first time to consider becoming a pro cheerleader, you need to have an idea on what pro cheerleaders do. Research their dance routines, workouts, diet, and what they do in general. That way, you’ll be able to mentally prepare yourself and plan for what lies ahead!

2. Get a water bottle.

Serious athletes and avid exercisers need to be properly hydrated. Since exercise is going to be a huge part of your preparation, motivate yourself to drink more by getting a water bottle! Carry that bottle with you wherever you go. Here’s a cool hack: Add slices of cucumber to get antioxidants!

3. Cut down on sugar.

Are you fond of sweets? Reducing the amount of sugar you eat will drastically reduce your cravings and weight. It’s also a simple yet powerful way to balance your hormones. Instead of adding sugar to your oatmeal, top it with fresh fruit. Eat nutrient-dense, satisfying meals to avoid sugar cravings. Read the labels!

4. Sign-up for an online cardio class.

If you’re not yet ready to go to the gym, why don’t you start working out from home? Cardio workouts are great for burning fat and increasing your self-confidence. Our Pom Fit Workout incorporate pom-poms. As you can see, it’s designed for aspiring pro cheerleaders like you.

5. Learn basic Hip-Hop dance moves.

Pro cheerleading is all about dancing, and Hip-Hop is one of the common dance styles used in the industry. Unless you’re an expert at Hip-Hop, learn some basic Hip-Hop moves! If you like, you can dance to this video where Charm La'Donna teaches a Hip-Hop dance style to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders:

6. Eat for your skin.

If you eat highly processed foods, the effects of your diet show on your skin. Remember that beautiful skin starts from within. What’s great is that if you clean up your diet for your skin, everything else improves as well - your waistline, energy level, mental clarity, and mood!

7. Start visualizing yourself as you want to be.

As you work on your pro cheer audition goals this year, make it a habit to clearly visualize these goals as already achieved. Visualize yourself walking on stage, introducing yourself with confidence to the judges. Picture out making friends with other candidates, dancing bigger and full-out.
