8 Truths That Will Improve Your Pro Cheer Practice
No matter how much you want to become a professional cheerleader, along the way, you tend to lose sight of the dream. When we speak about passions, following them is easier said than done. While a lot of factors influence your progress before the audition day comes, the most significant factor in your success is your ATTITUDE.
Read this list of eight essential truths and hopefully, one or more of them will transform the way you perceive your pro cheer prep journey. Hopefully, they will remind you of the importance of staying focused.
1. There is power in the present moment.
Your preparation journey before the auditions goes a lot smoother if you STOP STRESSING about what you failed to do yesterday or tomorrow’s challenges. Give your full attention to the present moment. Maximize the moment you’re in.
2. Doubt is the biggest enemy of progress.
Doubt keeps anyone from starting small or even trying. Doubt breeds procrastination. When you procrastinate, you regret not doing the work. This results in self-pity. Stop feeding your doubts and just do one simple thing today that will make yourself proud.

3. Significant changes start with small shifts.
Don’t overwhelm yourself with the idea that you need to make a massive change in your practice today. Break down a big goal (for example, achieving a healthy weight loss) into smaller steps. Write down those steps and commit to getting one step done each day or week.
4. If you argue for your limitations, you get to keep them.
Keep on telling yourself the things you cannot do, and surely, you’ll never be able to do them. Aren’t you tired of convincing yourself of the reasons why you cannot make a better food choice today or endure a fifteen-minute morning workout?
5. It’s not too late to start over.
The beautiful thing about life is that it’s comprised of moments -- moments that represent opportunities for a fresh start. Right now, you can choose not to let anything prevent you from doing the work. It’s never too late to spin things around for the better.
6. You might fail a lot.
Failure is inevitable. Women who join pro cheer auditions for the very first time find themselves needing to work on a lot of things - their dancing, physical appearance, health, strength, motivation, and more. But failure is important because it helps you grow to become a better version of yourself. Failure is how you master things.

7. You need others.
You can’t make the team on your own. Yes, you’re the one who’s going to show up and perform at the auditions. But along the way, you need people and experts for guidance. These can be your family. If not your family, they can be your friends, gym instructor, fitness buddies, or a former professional cheerleader like myself! Need a supportive community? 8. The hard road becomes easier with time.
Easy is earned. The only way to make anything easier, whether it’s increasing flexibility or waking up early, is to do the work. If you do something over and over, it becomes a habit.
If you want to truly become a professional cheerleader, use these truths to inspire your daily practice. Now it’s time to put your knowledge into action.
