Busy as Hell? Here Are Ways to Eat Healthy While Preparing for Auditions
Aspiring pro cheerleaders have many responsibilities in life.
Some are juggling family, school, or career. Add the kids (if you have one) and chores. Daily life can be mundane and you still have things to do to get to your pro cheer goals.
So yes, we get it. We can all be as busy as hell.
As an aspiring pro cheerleader, health and fitness are of utmost importance. We all want to make healthy choices, but sometimes we just don’t have the luxury to do so. So how do you stay on top of the game when it comes to eating healthy with all the other things you have to do in a day?
Magic words: Quick, easy and healthy
Sounds dreamy, right?
Too good to be true? Definitely not!
You can be busy with life and pro cheerleading dreams, and still be healthy.
Follow the tips below.
Make a meal plan.
The best way is to always come prepared. Often, there’s not enough time to prep meals because we spend so much time on the same day, thinking about what to make. Make a weekly meal plan and prep the ingredients (if they don’t spoil easily). Some, you can even put in the freezer for later use!
Use the microwave.
And no, we don’t mean popping in pre-cooked microwavable meals all the time. You can make your own with fresh ingredients! Consider making an omelet, quiche, poached eggs, and pasta. There are numerous microwave recipes you can make from scratch.
Make three-ingredient meals your new best friend.
There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of recipes out there that only takes three ingredients. There are healthy options and can save you time and money.
Oh, add one-pot meals too!
One-pot meals are amazing. It saves you a lot of time prepping and cooking because you don’t have to cook and transfer and then mix again. Just throw everything in the pot and voila! You have a meal. Although this may need maybe half an hour or less. Just if you have a little extra time to spare.
Don’t forget salads.
Need I say more? Nothing says "quick" than a bowl of salad. Throw in fresh greens, fruits and maybe some meat for protein and you’re good to go!
Ditch the junk food.
One way to eat healthily is to rid your house of junk food. Oftentimes, we’re tempted to resort to eating a bag of chips because you’re hungry and it’s sitting in your cupboard just waiting for you to grab it. Don’t make that an option.
Keep a stash of healthy snacks.
Of course, if you’re ditching the junk food, you might as well make a stash of healthy snacks. Think, veggie sticks, plain popcorn, greek yogurt, mixed nuts, fruit slices, kale chips, hard-boiled eggs, cheese… There are a handful of snack choices out there that are healthy and you can take on-the-go.
Be generous on the veggies.
Add them everywhere. Whether it’s in your snack items, your dinners, your drinks, your soups… Sneak in some vegetables for that extra oomph!
Make overnight oats and smoothies
I love overnight oats. It’s so easy to make them the night before, so you’ll have a quick and healthy breakfast. You can put it in the blender too and give it a few pulses and you’ll have a smoothie that you can take with you.
Prepare weeknight meals in advance.
If you’re considering weekly meal plans, there are recipes that you can cook and store and reheat when it’s time to eat them. Do not underestimate the power of your freezer.
