Professional cheerleaders are not just cheerleaders. They’re amazing women full of talent and potential. When not cheering on game days, these women work full-time jobs as CEOs, health professionals, beauty experts, and leaders of their own households. After professional cheerleading, these women continue to pursue big dreams that not everyone gets to chase after.
2. They never wanted to stop dancing even after college.
Most professional cheerleaders you’ll meet would admit that they enjoyed dancing since they were toddlers. In fact, one Atlanta Hawks cheerleader said that the first time she wore dance shoes was when she was 2 years old. Some of them started cheering in high school or college. Even after college, they’d never think of leaving the world of dancing, and so they go pro.
3. They love being around people.
The whole experience of performing on the field, in front of the sports fans, is what makes women want to become pro cheerleaders. Not just that -- they like helping other people in the community and serving as role models to young people.
4. Some of them love sports in general.
According to a poll, 51% of women consider themselves sports fans. This includes some aspiring pro cheerleaders. But even if you’re not that interested in sports yet plan to audition for a dance team, it’s never too late to learn. After all, your sports knowledge will be assessed by the judges. Do your research!
5. They practice 2-3 times a week for 3 hours.
All the fans see are big, big smiles and perfect dancing. Behind that superb performance are long hours of practice every week. A cheerleader said once, “The fans just don’t know how much we prepare.”
6. They’re passionate about staying fit.
Alanna of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders says that she likes being in the best shape. As a future pro cheerleader, staying fit should be one of your priorities. This is how you keep your performance up on the field and be able to meet the demands of your personal life when you’re not cheering.
7. Some of them used to cheer for another team.
Annemarie Y. shares that she cheered for the NBA Atlanta Hawks before she joined the NFL Atlanta Falcons. She added that she always wanted to be on the other side and know what football was like.
8. To them, the best part about being a cheerleader is their relationship with their cheer sisters.

Don’t forget the most memorable aspect of pro cheerleading… your relationship with women who share the same love for performing. Cheer sisters create amazing moments together. Their friendships last a lifetime.
