Today, I'd like to share with you this important topic on eating and fitness - it's about mindlessly snacking on foods because you're bored. Are you guilty of this? A lot of women are.

Before we dive deeper into this topic, please keep in mind that snacking isn't necessarily bad. What's wrong is when you do it in such a way that doesn't support your pro cheer audition fitness goals.

Without further ado, here are some helpful tips to stop boredom snacking.

Pay attention to emotional triggers.

You're not just bored, but you're feeling an emotion that compels you to reach out for that sugar-filled, unhealthy snack. Perhaps you're also tired, stressed, or excited about something. I encourage you to keep a journal where you can write down your emotions each time you feel like snacking. Learn to respond to your emotions not by eating. Food isn't the real solution.

Make sure to eat satisfying meals.

A simple yet often neglected strategy to stop boredom snacking is to eat regular meals that actually help reduce your appetite. High-protein foods stave off hunger since they keep you fuller for longer. Examples include tofu stir-fry, salmon fillets, and chicken with broccoli.

Stay hydrated throughout the day. 

First of all, are you drinking enough water? Because more often than not, people who snack excessively are the ones who tend to ignore their hydration. Staying hydrated helps you manage your weight since it suppresses appetite and reduces those hunger pangs. 

Find something else to do.

If it's really boredom and not hunger, distract yourself by engaging in an activity you like and reduces stress. You could read a good book - for example, a pro cheer audition prep book! Or why not get yourself moving by taking a walk with your dog outside? 

Don't keep junk food in the house.

If you should eat something, make sure it's not junk. To change your habit of snacking on junk food, change your environment first. Avoid stocking your pantry with these options - potato chips, white bread, cookies, and cakes!
