Audition Prep Advice: How Do You Motivate Yourself To Do Anything?

Do you feel less motivated lately? You're not alone. Many aspiring dancers and pro cheerleaders experience the same thing. Sometimes, when you've worked so hard, you'll just want to relax yourself. Other times, you'll just feel blah and there's no real explanation for it.
No matter the reason, you know that you need to stay motivated if you want to keep working towards your audition goals. Here are tips you should follow:
Just start and let motivation catch up with you.
If you want your dreams to come true, you have to start taking action - no matter how you feel. You might think that a workout or dance routine is too hard, and now you're starting to feel less positive. Don't just stare into the distance and hope that everything works out. Take that first step!
Turn comparison into inspiration.
One of the ways you're being hard on yourself (that's why you lose motivation) is that you compare your behind-the-scenes hardwork with someone else's success. Instead of letting another candidate's or current pro cheerleader's success wear you down, use it as a source of inspiration. Think, "If they can do it, I certainly can and will!"
Play happy background music.
Upbeat music has the power to brighten up your mood, boost your mental performance, and get you moving. When you're researching your dream team, play some instrumental happy tunes. For your workouts, prepare a playlist of heart-pumping tracks. Check out this great resource!
Remind yourself of why you chose that path.
Too often, we execute to the best of our abilities and eventually forget why we're doing what we do. Whenever you feel exhausted, remind yourself of your WHY. Take five minutes to write down on a blank piece of paper the top 3 reasons you're attending dance classes or improving your diet and fitness. Is it really your dream to become a professional cheerleader? Are you doing this to become a role model to others? To go beyond your limitations?
