Team Info
The NBA Houston Rockets Power Dancers are the official dance squad of the Houston Rockets basketball team. In 2016, they had 14 members. To be part of this elite dance squad is an unforgettable, worthwhile opportunity. Aside from performing for thousands of fans at home games, you get to enjoy local to international media exposure, be part of the yearly calendar photo shoot, travel with your cheer sisters, participate in charity and community events, and enjoy other privileges like professional makeovers, training, tanning, clothing, and more.

2017 Tryouts
Candidates for this year's tryouts must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate by October 1, 2017. Please note that valid ID is required for the audition. You should hold a full-time job or be a college student.
If you make the team this year, you need to sign a one-year contract and commit your time to all evening rehearsals (held two times a week), make appearances, and participate in other Power Dancer activities.

PRELIMINARY AUDITIONS
- Date: Saturday, June 24, 2017
- Time: Registration begins at 8:00 AM
- Location: UH Recreation & Wellness Center, 4500 University Drive, Houston, TX 77004
- Details: 3 eliminations will take place in this round. You will be taught freestyle, stylized choreography, and hip-hop choreography and will be asked to perform the choreographies for the judges. Open auditions will be closed to the public including your friends and family. Audition fee is $25.
FINAL AUDITIONS
1. Mandatory Finalists Interviews
- Date: Monday, June 26, 2017 (by appointment only)
2. Mandatory Finalists Boot Camp
- Date: June 27-June 30
- Time: 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM
3. Rockets Power Dancer Finals
- Date: Wednesday, July 5, 2017
- Time: Doors open at 6:00 PM
- Location: Toyota Center, 1510 Polk Street, Houston, TX 77002
What Are The Judges Looking For?
Candidates will be judged based on the following:
- Appearance
- Dance ability
- Style
- Strength
- Completion of choreography
- Energy
- Projection
- Potential
- Personality and attitude
- Team working skills
- Professionalism and maturity on and off the court
- Desire and ability to commit for one full year
What Will You Wear?
- Two-piece dance ensemble (must show midriff, must be fitted and no full-length pants)
- Shoe of preference with non-marking soles
- Flesh tone hose or tights
- Performance ready hair and make-up
How Can You Prepare For The Houston Rockets Power Dancer Tryouts?
The Power Dancers are offering 4 prep classes. These classes will give you a competitive edge over other candidates. You will learn some Rockets Power Dancer choreography, join the audition Q&A session, and meet the coach and choreographer of the Rockets Power Dancers. You can take these classes for your own benefit, whether or not you are a Power Dancer candidate this year. Each prep class costs $20.
