These lovely and talented women bring excitement to thousands of Lakers fans during all home games. In addition to performing on game days, the Laker Girls make appearances, participate in calendar photo shoots, join community events, and travel around the world to meet fans. In 2016, the team had 19 members. The most popular Laker Girl is Paula Abdul, a dancer, actress, and choreographer.

Complete information about the tryouts and access to online registration can be found here: 2017 Laker Girls Auditions

The Lakers Girls hold auditions in July every year. Tryouts this year will take place on July 9, 2017 (Sunday) at the Toyota Sports Center - 555 N. Nash Street, El Segundo, CA 90245. Registration will start at exactly 9:00 AM. The auditions will be closed to the public.

To qualify as a candidate, you need to be at least 18 years old. The team highly prefers candidates who have 8 years of dance experience. Even if being a Laker Girl is a part-time, semi-professional job, you are expected to commit to the team's schedule. Be present in all activities - home games, rehearsals, events, etc.

What to expect during the tryouts:

  • You will be taught a dance technique which you will perform in a group of 3 for the judges. If you are given a card, it means that you qualify for the next round.
  • During the second round, candidates will learn a jazz combination. This combination incorporates style and technique - more difficult than the basic routine taught in the first round.
  • In the third round, candidates will now learn a hip-hop routine. Some candidates in the past say that the routine is taught fast. This helps judges pick candidates who can quickly learn the routine.
  • For round four, each candidate will introduce herself and state why she wants to be a Laker Girl.
  • During the final round, candidates will perform the previous routines they learned. This will be the last time that judges would see the candidates dance. If you reach this round, make sure to dance big and show your best performance.

Remember that all previous Laker Girls are required to re-audition if they want to join the next season.

What Will You Wear To The Auditions?

  • Dance or athletic shoes with non-marking bottom
  • Briefs & crop top or leotard - with flesh colored tights
