Team Info
The Houston Texans Cheerleading & Dance Team is the official cheer squad of the Houston Texans football league since 2002. One of the most exciting teams in the professional cheerleading industry, it had 35 members in 2016. These women perform in front of more than 70,000 fans on the field, make appearances, tour worldwide, and participate in their yearly swimsuit calendar photoshoot.

2017 Tryouts

To be able to sign-up for the tryouts, you need to be at least 18 years old by April 2, 2017. You are required to have a high school diploma or GED. There is no maximum age limit to be a Texans cheerleader. Also, there are no height and weight requirements for as long as you are you are fit and healthy.
Current squad members have different professions. Some of them are full-time moms, students, or have full-time/part-time jobs. Remember that being a Texans cheerleader is a part-time job.
If you make the team this year, you need to commit in rehearsing 9 hours every week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM. During the season, prepare to commit 16 hours every week. That includes home games. You will be paid for all the hours your worked, including appearances and rehearsals.
AUDITIONS SCHEDULE:
Day 1: Saturday, April 1, 2017
• 3:00pm – 4:00pm: Registration
• 4:30pm – 7:00pm: Round One
• 7:30pm – 8:30pm: Round Two
• 9:00pm – 10:30pm: Round Three
• Location: Houston Methodist Training Center
Day 2: Sunday, April 2, 2017
• Interviews
• Time and location details will still be announced
Finals will be on Thursday, April 13, 2017
Final practices: April 4-6 and April 10-12, 7-10pm
What Will You Wear To The Auditions?
- Midriff top
- Dance hot pants or briefs
- Tennis shoes (recommended)
- Hair and makeup should be performance-ready. No ponytails.
How Will You Be Judged?
You will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Appearance
- Pose
- Dance ability
- Showmanship
- Work ethic
- Education
- Future goals
How Can You Prepare For The Cheer Tryouts?
You are encouraged to prepare by joining dance classes so you can learn the fundamentals of jazz, hip-hop, and ballet. It is important that you are able to quickly learn choreography during the tryouts. You also need to work on your flexibility, kicks, and turns. Working out helps!
To get started, you can sign-up for our POM FIT™ GAMEDAY1 series. These are full body workout and dance classes to help you build stamina and flexibility and get the cheerleader body you want.
The Houston Texans cheer squad also recommends that you sign-up for the 2017 Real Deal Workshop tryout clinic. You'll get inside tips on attire, makeup, what not to say, and more. Dance routines will also be taught in this clinic plus you'll be able to meet the team directors.
