In 2016, the NFL Charger Girls had a total of 28 team members. As the official cheer squad of the Los Angeles Chargers, members are to serve as ambassadors for the sports team. Aside from cheering at pre-season and regular season home games, these cheerleaders make appearances, travel abroad, participate during the annual calendar photoshoot, and more. The best thing about being a Charger Girl is that you get to build invaluable friendships with your cheer sisters.

2017 Tryouts

All interested candidates should be at least 18 years old to qualify for an audition. There is no maximum age limit nor height and weight requirements. If you make the team, you should be able to attend mandatory rehearsals which will be held twice a week (Monday and Wednesday evenings, and one Saturday a month). The number of rehearsals per week may increase any time.
As a Charger Girl, you are expected to fully commit to the squad for one whole year. However, you should be able to have a part-time/full-time job or attend college. Your position on the cheer team is considered a part-time job. If you are unable to commit to participating in all of the team's activities, please don't consider auditioning.
There are up to 28 available positions on the squad. If you are a veteran, you still need to re-audition. After the preliminary round, 60-65 finalists will be chosen. These finalists will be interviewed and asked to perform a final dance audition.
The total scores of finalists are comprised of the following:
- Last score from the preliminary audition (25%)
- Interviews (25%)
- Final dance audition (50%)
*Please note that the audition dates and location for the preliminaries have not yet been announced. For the preliminary auditions time, check in will be at 9:00 AM. The tryouts will officially start at 10:00 AM.
What Will You Wear To The Auditions?
- Two-piece and flesh colored nylons/hosiery
- Jazz, dance shoes or athletic shoes (minimal tread and non-marking soles)
- A couple pairs of shoes to try out
How Will You Be Judged?
You will be judged according to the following criteria:
- Dance ability
- Showmanship
- Crowd appeal
How Can You Prepare For The Tryouts?

PRE-AUDITIONS WORKSHOPS:
The Charger girls will be holding prep workshops. In these workshops, you will learn dance techniques (similar to what will be taught to you during the preliminary round), application tips, and a style guide. Every workshop will teach you something new. The team director will also be having a Q & A session which you can learn a lot from.

JOIN DANCE CLASSES:
Aside from participating in the prep workshops, you can join as many dance classes as you like. These dance classes should be able to teach dance styles which include but are not limited to Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Ballet.
