In 2016, the NFL Washington Redskins Cheerleading & Dance Team had 31 members. This professional cheer team cheered for the Washington Redskins since 1962 and was the first to create an alumni association. The Redskins cheerleaders make over 300 appearances yearly at community and professional events in addition to cheering at all home games. If you make the team, you need to plan on making at least 20 appearances during your year.

2017 Tryouts

For you to qualify as a Redskins cheerleader, you need to be at least 18 years old by April 1, 2017. There is no maximum age limit. Current squad members hold part-time/full-time jobs or have families. These are the team's minimum qualifications.
Ladies with tattoos and/or piercings can make the squad but they need to cover them at all times.
In terms of height and weight, the Washingtons Redskins cheerleading squad imposes no limits. However, you should be physically fit. If you become a Redskins cheerleader, you need to commit 12 to 20 hours of your time to participate in rehearsals and appearances.
The squad is more dance-oriented and emphasizes Jazz and Hip-Hop.
You are encouraged to prepare yourself several months before the tryouts by working out and eating healthy. Taking dance classes would be a huge advantage. Get started with your dance and fitness training by joining our POM FIT™ GAMEDAY1 or FREE Pom Fit™ Cardio Kickline classes.

Preliminary Round
- Date: April 1, 2017 (Saturday)
- Time: 8:00 AM (Registration starts)

Semi-Final Round (Rehearsal)
- Date: April 2, 2017 (Sunday)
- Time: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Venue: FedExField
Swimwear Photoshoot & Rehearsal
- Date: April 3, 2017 (Monday)
- Time: 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM
- Venue: FedExField
Finalists Rehearsals and Interviews
- Dates: April 4 - April 5 (Tuesday and Wednesday)
- Time: 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM
- Venue: FedExField
Final Auditions (Open to the public)
- Date: April 6, 2017 (Thursday)
- Time: Doors open at 6:30 PM, show begins at 7:00 PM.

What Will You Wear To The Auditions?
- Crop top (sports bra, stomach must show)
- Dance trunks/briefs (recommended) or short biker shorts
- Flesh-colored pantyhose, dance tights or you may be bare legged
- Dance sneakers or jazz shoes

Prep Classes To Help You Get Ready

To help you ace the tryouts, the NFL Washington Redskins Cheerleading & Dance Team offers prep classes. These prep classes teach you about dance choreography, proper warm-up, stretching, and techniques. Each class costs $30. Prep classes are not mandatory but it is highly recommended that you join as many as possible so you can gain competitive advantage.
In addition to the prep classes, the squad has also organized A Leg Up series which will teach you about NFL glamour, flexibility, and tips from veteran cheerleaders. Each session costs $25.
