How to De-Frizz Your Hair: 6 Easy Fixes to Look Great

Hair is an essential part of a professional cheerleader’s overall look. It adds to your natural beauty. Your hair dances with you on stage and on the field! If you’re dreaming to become a pro cheerleader this year, part of your research should include grooming your hair.

When it comes to hair care, I know that many women struggle with frizz!

Frizz happens when your hair is dry and lacks moisture. Humid weather can be largely responsible for frizz. You’ll also be surprised to know that your hair care habits and product choices contribute to frizz. For instance, using shampoos with sulfate and washing your hair in hot water.

If you’re eager to know how to tame frizz so you can look and feel your best during auditions or anytime in your pro cheer career, this article is for you.

Wash your hair with cold water.

Taking a cold shower feels unpleasant, but the benefit of it is that cold water helps prevent frizz. Cold water closes the cuticles of your hair strands, locking moisture in. Hot water does the opposite - it makes moisture leave your hair strands. It dries out your hair, creating a frizzy appearance.

Use gentle, sulfate-free shampoos.

A sulfate-free shampoo is the best choice for your hair. While sulfates are what make shampoos bubbly or foamy, they strip natural oils from your hair and scalp. As a result, you experience dryness, itching, not to mention frizz. If you have colored hair, you’ve got more reasons to ditch a sulfate-containing shampoo since sulfates will likely strip off your hair color.

Use a leave-in conditioner.

What is a leave-in conditioner and what is it used for? A leave-in conditioner conditions your hair. You apply it to clean hair and leave it in until your next bath. If your hair isn’t cooperating with you lately, apply a leave-in conditioner. Looser curls and waves need something that’s lightweight. And if you’re looking to growing your hair faster, you’ll benefit from ingredients like tea tree oil and rosemary.

Try the mascara wand + hairspray trick.

Here’s an awesome quick-fix you can use anytime. Spray a small amount of your hairspray to an unused mascara wand. Use the mascara wand to gently brush those frizzy hair strands until they straighten.

Consider a silk pillowcase.

Do you sleep on a standard cotton pillowcase? Many claim that silk pillowcases work wonders for your beauty - and yes, they do make a difference. The smooth texture of silk allows your hair to glide on its surface without adding frizz and tangles. Silk is less porous than cotton, so it won’t absorb moisture from your hair!

Get a trim every 8 weeks.

Every two months, visit a hair salon to get your hair trimmed. Trimming your hair removes split ends which happen to cause unnecessary frizz! When it comes to your hair cut, it’s best to avoid excessive layering. More layers create more frizz.

I hope you’ve learned from today’s blog post! As you can see, achieving your best look doesn’t have to be complicated. Great-looking hair impacts you more than you know. It complements your face, dress, and shows the world that you take care of yourself!
