How to Fake a Good Night's Sleep with These 6 Beauty Hacks

Can you be busy, get 4 hours of sleep, yet still show up at the auditions looking fresh and glamorous? Definitely, yes. There’s no need to envy the beautiful pro cheer candidates you see on the Instagram accounts of your dance team or their website. There are hacks to help us with all things, and beauty is no exception.

In fact, knowing that you have to balance work, personal life, and pro cheer career once you make the team should give you reasons to arm yourself with tips on faking a good night’s sleep. Because yes, there’ll be days when you’ll feel very tired and won’t get 8 hours of rest.

Here are some hacks to apply the day before the auditions (and beyond):

Apply eyeliner - it’s your best friend.

Whether or not you lack sleep, eyeliner is a must on the audition day. It doesn’t just make your eyes pop; it transforms even the most exhausted eyes so that they become a flattering feature. Don’t apply dark eyeliner around your eyes as this can make them look smaller. Instead, draw a line at the top lash line.

Apply under-eye concealer in a triangle shape.

Under-eye circles are difficult to hide. Using the right concealer shade (no more than 2 shades lighter than your skin tone), lightly dab the concealer starting from the inner corner of the eye down to the outside corner of the nostril. Then move towards the outer corner of the eye so that you form an inverted triangle. This should be able to cover up dark circles without looking unnatural.

Take a cold shower before you head out.

You may feel like avoiding cold water early in the morning, but if you lack sleep, taking a cold shower is the way to revive your skin. The cold shrinks your pores and decreases swelling. The result is that your skin looks smoother. You can also bring a cooling face mist and spray it on your face during downtime.

Moisturize your skin well.

Hydrating your skin using a moisturizer (preferably with SPF) reduces the appearance of fine lines. Fine lines tend to get accentuated when you lack sleep. Apply moisturizer right before you go to bed and after you shower in the morning. In addition to choosing one with sun protection, look for one with no silicone and no synthetic fragrance.

Curl your lashes.

Curling your lashes is another surefire way to wake your eyes. This is one small tip but works wonders. Make sure that the rubber tip of the eyelash curler touches the root of your lashes. Squeeze the curler gently and move it gently to the upper end of your lashes. You can repeat the same steps until you are satisfied with the results.

Apply blush for rosy cheeks.

Don’t skip the blush to make you look well-rested. Below are the various skin tones and the best blush colors:

  • Fair skin - Peach, Baby Pink, Sheer Plum
  • Medium skin - Apricot, Soft Berry
  • Olive skin - Bronze, Rose
  • Dark skin - Brick, Bright Tangerine
