How to Make Your Pro Cheer Audition Application Stand Out

Filling out your application is one of the most important parts of auditioning for a pro cheer team. You need to take your application seriously if you want to stand out. Basically, you will need to fill out details about yourself and attach a professional photo. If this is your first time to audition, make sure to read this guide to get all the tips you need. Keep reading.

1. If you can, submit your application in advance.

Most pro cheer teams nowadays provide a link to an online application. Some will also provide the option to submit during the registration day. It is best to submit your application ahead of time. The reason for this is that some directors will review applications, and yours might just stand out. Also, filling out the application on the audition day gives you less time to think through your answers and write them beautifully. You want your application to be perfect.

2. Don’t leave anything blank.

Do your best to answer all questions. In case there are questions where you’re completely clueless of the answers, it’s better to mark them with an “N/A” rather than leaving them blank. Remember that team directors also pay attention to how you complete the paperwork. It reveals if you are detail oriented or not.

3. Remember all your accomplishments.

Before you actually fill out the application, try to recall all your strengths and experiences that relate to professional cheerleading. You will be asked about your dance or cheerleading background. Recall your years of dance training and the types of dances you’ve tried (Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Hip-Hop, etc.). If you’ve ever performed in public, whether you sang, danced, or joined a pageant, recall that/those experience/s as well. You may also need to mention your community involvement and any special awards.

4. Accurately describe your answers.

Be as detailed as possible with your responses. If you are employed, spell out your employer’s complete name, as well as the details about your work (email address, street, years, work description, etc.) Expect that the application form will also ask about former employers and reasons for leaving if you had previous jobs.

5. Submit a photo that looks flattering and professional.

Your photo will be measured against photos of hundreds of other candidates who might be models. Create a great first impression through your photo. Have it taken by an experienced photographer. Proper lighting and a quality camera with high resolution are keys to a stunning photo. Check if the application requires you to submit a headshot or full-length shot. Most importantly, submit a recent photo! Again, you want to be accurate.
