How To Stop Holding Yourself Back From Achieving Your Pro Cheer Goals
The number one thing that holds people back from getting what they want in life is themselves. It is your thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions about yourself and the world you live in that create doubt and a lack of motivation.
If you are here because you dream to become a professional cheerleader and yet you feel like an imposter, this article is for you. My goal for you here is to offer helpful ways to stop limiting your success so that you can pursue the pro cheerleading team you dream to be part of with confidence.
Stop assuming the worst.
Thinking of catastrophes nearly 100% of the time can create unnecessary suffering in your mind. What if I don't make the team? What if I humiliate myself in front of the judges? Bad situations are going to happen to anyone, even you, whether you like it or not. Stop wasting time on negative thinking and start getting excited about the wonderful things that may happen. Positive thinking makes you feel hopeful and because of that, you become more proactive.
Learn to appreciate the small things.
Don't be too busy focusing on major victories that you take for granted the little things that could bring you joy. Believe me, even that 5-minute workout you did because you had a very busy day deserves to be appreciated. Anything that HELPS you move closer to your goals is worth it. It could also be words of encouragement from a friend, a pro cheer audition book, a YouTube dance video, or feedback from your dance instructor.
Overcome "all-or-nothing" thinking.
Black and white thinking is something you should get rid of as soon as possible if you are serious about becoming a professional cheerleader. You will know that you have this kind of thinking when you tend to label situations as AMAZING or TERRIBLE. To you, there's nothing in between. There are many problems that result from all-or-nothing thinking. It increases your stress levels, decreases your mood, and makes you less receptive of the good advice that others may give.
