Realistic Ways to Make Time for Dance Practice

Any goal that's worth reaching deserves time and effort. While you're getting yourself prepared for a future dance audition, you may feel like you lack the time for practice. Maybe your job is demanding or you're trying to meet demands in your personal life.

But if you're serious about your dancing, you must be smart about managing your time. This means avoiding distractions, quitting bad habits, and setting realistic deadlines. Below, I listed top actionable ways for you to have time to practice your dancing.

Realistic Ways to Make Time for Dance Practice

1. Audit your time.

First, you want to get a clear picture of how you actually spend your time each week. You might be surprised to discover that you're wasting a lot of hours on useless stuff. Are you willing to trade these wasted hours for dance practice?

2. Tell yourself that you have time to dance.

No matter how busy you are, surely, you have at least 30 minutes a day to spare. Stop making excuses to postpone that "30-minute a day" dance practice just because you think it's not enough. Every minute you dedicate for practice is a minute you improve.

3. Sign-up for online dance classes.

The best thing about learning online is that you can do it at your most convenient time. You can practice at your own pace and always have that resource readily available (if there are some moves that need working). We offer a full-body cardio workout that includes a POM FIT dance routine class. You can also try other online brands that offer Hip-Hop and Jazz, or simply search for free classes on YouTube! My top tip for you here is to be resourceful and creative.

4. Reclaim your time by saying NO.

Now I know that a lot of us are afraid to say no because we hate to miss out on fun experiences with friends. I'm not saying that you have to turn down every request, but you need to decide if the request is really worth it. Will the activity help you with your pro cheer audition goals? Are you obligated to do it? If the answer is no, then say no firmly but politely.

5. Get a mentor.

Having a trusted advisor in dancing increases your accountability. Mentors can inspire you in many ways to keep showing up and doing your best. Not only will they motivate you to make time for practice, but they also help you realize your mistakes so that you don't waste time repeating them.
