Positive Visualization Exercises For Your Journey To Becoming A Pro Cheerleader

There are people who believe that making a public statement of your future intentions will give you an untimely sense of completeness. So should you always keep your plans private?
I’m personally in a different camp. I believe that adopting the right mindset can positively change your reality, whether or not you tell people about your life goals. Shifting your line of thinking can help you realize the possibilities and resources right in front of you to achieve success.
Positive visualization has always been a part of every athlete who wants to give an extraordinary performance in sports. Kerri Walsh Jennings, an American professional beach volleyball player and three-time Olympic gold medalist, told USA Today that a lot of what she does to win is visualization. She quotes, "To be able to ... take in the sights, the sounds, the stress, the excitement — that's going to serve us really well moving forward."
If you want to make your dream NFL or NBA cheer and dance team, you need to envision yourself acing the upcoming tryouts. Repeat the process of visualizing yourself showcasing your best dance moves and giving the right answers during the interview portion. At the very least, positive visualization will help you with your confidence and will get you excited about the journey ahead.
Here are some easy exercises you can do to use positive visualization on your journey to becoming a professional cheerleader:
Print out goal pictures. Get creative!

A powerful goal setting strategy is to create a dream board or vision board of yourself as a professional cheerleader. Get creative by printing out pictures of your favorite squad from the internet and hanging them in your room. Pick from one of your best photos, cut your face from your chosen photo, and paste it into the picture of your dream team.
Use mental imagery.

Are you using visual mental imagery to simulate real-life experiences? Whether you're performing for the judges or simply imagining it, the same areas in your brain light up. Your imagination is so powerful. Realize its potential to help you build your motivation and confidence while you practice or train.
Because you already know that mental imagery can shape your future outcomes, have the habit of practicing it regularly.
As each day gets you closer to your team's auditions, picture yourself learning the dance routine with other candidates during the preliminaries and showcasing it with confidence. See yourself on the sidelines, pom-poms in hand and leg kicked high as you then leap into a turn before hitting a dramatic dance pose. The more you do it, the better you will get.
Practice affirmations.

It's time to translate those powerful thoughts into words. When you practice affirmations, you are verbally suggesting positive, reassuring statements to further rewire your brain for success.
Prepare a list of positive affirmations. Say these affirmations out loud while you are writing them down. As you wake up in the morning and before going to bed at night, repeat these statements verbally with conviction. While doing other things during the day, state them mentally.
Below are positive statements to add to your list:
- “I have a personal journey to live, and am so excited that dance and cheerleading are a part of that path.”
- “How will this week be the week where I make yet another breakthrough on my path to reaching my professional cheer career goals?”
-
“I am grateful to be the kind of person who dreams big and lives life fully.”
-
“I want to accomplish my dreams because doing so will have positive ripples on the lives of others around me. My accomplishments will help me support the dreams of my family, friends, and others because…[explore the reasons your dreams will help others with their dreams].”

All these positive visualization exercises help you improve your reality by leading you to take action. Be in charge of the quality of your thoughts because they influence your preparation towards becoming a professional cheerleader. Get rid of your inner critic. Don't allow people's doubts about your abilities to destroy your faith.
