This concept is called skin fasting, one of the latest skincare trends on the internet these days. It comes from the traditional idea of fasting to detoxify your skin and allow it to heal. What Is Skin Fasting?

Skin fasting embraces the concept of giving your skin a break from the regular skincare routine to improve its function and achieve naturally glowing skin. It means letting your skin breathe freely to normalize the secretion of natural oils and allowing it to rejuvenate on its own and heal. In other words, “detoxify” your skin by avoiding all skincare products or treatments for a day, week, or month.

How to Do Skin Fasting 

There are two ways you can do skin fasting. Either give up your moisturizer at night or completely abstain from skincare products for several weeks. You may want to continue using mild sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays during the daytime. To give it a try, follow these steps.

1. Before going to bed, wash your face thoroughly at night.

2. You don’t have to cut down all the products in one go. Instead, start gradually by doing it once a week. On the night you’re doing skin fasting, try not to apply moisturizers or any other product to let your skin breathe freely.

3. Then wash your face the morning after. Make sure to use lukewarm water to avoid stripping off the natural oils.

Pro tip: While skin fasting, don’t forget to drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside. 

What Are the Benefits of Skin Fasting?

A skin fast allows the skin to reset its natural functions and rejuvenate at its own pace. Abstaining from using skin care products can help your skin produce natural oils to keep it soft and offer other benefits, including:
