Pro Cheer Health: 10 Natural Foods to Boost Your Immune System

As a pro-cheerleader, you must have a strong immune system at all times so you're less likely to get sick. Being in the best possible health helps you maintain a perfect attendance for pro cheer activities like practices and performances. Aside from those reasons, having a healthy body helps maintain a beautiful appearance. 

Wouldn't you want that? It's great to know that being strong and healthy don't cost much. Start by eating natural foods that are known to be effective immune system boosters. Here are 10 of them:   

1. Broccoli

Broccoli is a good source of calcium and vitamin K. It’s ideal for strengthening your bones which support the muscles. It also allows you to lift stronger and have more endurance when performing physical activities. If you ever sustain bone injuries, you’re more likely to recover faster. Some of the best ways to serve broccoli are to have it steamed, boiled, or eaten with other healthy foods such as ish.

2. Medicinal Mushrooms

Mushrooms are one of the best sources of Beta-Glucans, a type of sugar that helps to strengthen the immune system and fight inflammation. Beta-Glucans reduce stress and improve sleep. If you suffer a lot of body pain and interrupted sleep, then serve medicinal mushroom with soup or sautee to reduce and cure them.

3. Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits are a good source of vitamin C. A healthy vitamin C level in the body reduces the manifestation of chronic diseases. It helps fight and reduce the risk of high blood pressure and heart diseases. Consuming citrus fruits daily makes you less likely to contract illnesses such as colds, fever, and flu. Here's a simple hack to boost your vitamin C intake: Slice lemon or lime and put it in your drinking water.

4. Spinach

Spinach is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, folate and others. Having spinach included in your diet will help your blood clot faster. It's deal for faster wound healing internally and externally. The presence of folate in spinach aids in the production of white blood cells so that you can stand against infections and diseases. Saute spinach with your favorite spices to recover injuries better.

5. Almonds

Almonds contain a lot of vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber, and antioxidants. They're known to have a lot of vitamin E content which makes your skin healthier and look younger. Almonds can be eaten in many different ways. You can either soak them in milk overnight, roast them or eat them raw.

Acai berries contain lots of healthy fats, are low on sugar, and are loaded with antioxidants. The Acai Berry is famous for its cholesterol-balancing effect. It also has possible anti-cancer properties. The berries can be eaten alone or used as the star ingredient for your smoothie. 

8. Garlic

Garlic is rich in allicin. It is an antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antioxidant property that cleanses your body. Garlic is also known as a blood pressure remedy and regulator. If you have a family history of high blood pressure or have it, make garlic present in your diet. Garlic can be served as a spice in your cooking. You can also fry garlic into chips that you can enjoy as a crispy snack.

9. Sweet Potato

Speaking of blood pressure, sweet potatoes are also heart-loving. The tuber is high in fiber which is good for digestion and can lower bad cholesterol levels. Sweet potatoes can be boiled or baked. You can slice them and include them in a porridge.

10. Shellfish

If you want to something delicious that's low in calories and high in lean protein, then shellfishes are your best friends. Shellfishes are also rich in healthy fats (omega-3 fatty acids) which are good for the heart. Serve shellfish in a soup. However, be wary of your allergies.
