Pro Cheer Makeup and Beauty: How to Make Your Eyes Pop
Mastering the art of eye makeup is no easy task for those who aspire to become professional cheerleaders. But you have no choice – your eyes are among your best facial features, which means that it matters to accentuate them through makeup and some beauty tips. In professional cheerleading tryouts, you shouldn’t leave eye makeup out. Making sure that your eyes appear larger helps you look much better in front of the judges, on screen, and in photographs.
Here are a few tricks that will help your eyes stand out. Now, you can look at your sparkling best!
1. Get rid of dark circles.
Dark circles don’t just make your eyes look smaller, they also make your face look dull and weary. Even up! The best way to deal with dark circles is to apply a good concealer. Choose a concealer that has a slightly lighter shade than your skin tone. You wouldn’t want to create a white circle that’s too obvious for the judges to see. When it comes to concealer type, a liquid concealer is the most versatile since it appeals to all kinds of skin.
2. Define your eyebrows.
You may not realize this but yes, your eyebrows create a world of difference in getting your eyes to really pop. The premise is that anything that surrounds your eyes brings more attention to it. An easy trick is to keep your brows well-defined. This would require a regular visit to your favorite salon to have them properly shaped every now and then. Great looking brows follow the natural shape of your eyes. Brush up your brows with a clear brow mascara so that they become fuller.
3. Use a neutral or light-colored eyeshadow.
Lighter shades of eyeshadow create the illusion of bigger eyes. Using this trick, you follow the rule of contouring. Neutral and light colors help reflect light. Also, applying these lighter shades at the center of your eyelids takes them forward. Don’t worry about whether you need a shimmery effect or matte finish – any of these will do as long as they’re light. Just make sure that you remove excess hairs in your eyebrow areas. They become obvious with neutral and light eyeshadow on them.
4. Curl your eyelashes.
It won’t take you more than 3 minutes to curl up your lashes. A lot of women do admit that this is one important beauty step they miss especially when hurrying up. In fact, we advise you pack your lash curler in your bag for your final retouches before the pro cheer auditions start. To curl your lashes the right way, be sure that you’ve already applied the rest of your eye makeup – eyeshadow and eyeliner. Bring your curler close to the base of your lashes. This way, you achieve a full curl and not an L-shaped curl that looks awful. Press gently and avoid wiggling the curler with your lashes in between. Hold the position for 10-15 seconds before you let go.
5. Don’t leave out the eyeliner.
One of the biggest eye makeup mistakes you can commit is applying eyeliner all the way around your eyes. Instead of accentuating your eyes, doing this will make them dramatic – but way smaller! Choose a pencil, liquid, or gel eyeliner depending on the type you’re most comfortable with. Among these eyeliners, the gel type is what glides easily. Apply the eyeliner starting at the outer ¾ of your eyelid. Avoid the inner corners. Extend the eyeliner beyond the outer corners of your eyes. If you use it on your lower lashline, start with the outer third as well.
6. Use eye drops for irritated eyes.
Do your eyes look red because of fatigue and dryness? Fatigued and dry eyes can, again, make them smaller. Not to mention, red eyes appear unhealthy. Eye drops are a simple solution to remedy this problem. Drops provide immediate relief and protect your eyes against further irritation.
