Should You Wear False Lashes During Pro Cheer Auditions?

When it comes to appearance, one of the common questions that aspiring cheerleaders ask is this: "Do I need to wear false lashes during the auditions?"

If this is your first time to join an NBA, NFL, or semi-professional dance audition, it's easy to think that false lashes are not necessary. After all, you'd still apply eye makeup, right?

Every current and former pro cheerleader will tell you this: False lashes will take you from just pretty to WOW. False lashes definitely make you look great in your audition photos. They complete your audition-day look and help you stand out from a distance!!!

Months Before Your Pro Cheer Audition

Since you already know how important false lashes are for your look, make sure that you shop around for options. Figure out how to apply them. False lashes are never easy to apply for first-timers. Practice again and again in front of the mirror! Get in touch with a friend or professional who can show you the steps in person.

Most importantly, practice dancing and walking around with false lashes on. You need to get used to the feeling of wearing them for hours.

What Kind of False Lashes Should You Get?

There are so many length and shape options to choose from, and it can get confusing!!!

Basically, here's what you need to know:

During the preliminary part of the auditions (when the judges see you from afar), it's best to wear fuller, thicker false lashes to make your eyes pop. Again, this will help you stand out even from a distance.

However, during the interview round, when the judges get an up close look at you, the best fake lashes to wear would be thinner lashes. Thinner lashes give you a more natural look. I would recommend the Ardell® 110 Demi lashes since these lashes don't look flashy, greatly enhance your look, and feel comfortable.

Here are some more tips for choosing fake lashes in addition to my basic recommendations above...

  • If you have round or circular shaped eyes, choose winged lashes to achieve a cat eye look which is very attractive.
  • If you have deep set eyes, it's best to wear long and dramatic lashes.
  • If you have hooded eyes, choose a lash that tapers at each end to create an illusion of depth.

Application Tips

When applying glue on the lash, allow it to dry for about 30 seconds before applying it to you. This prevents smears. Also, apply black or brown mascara to your natural lashes or over your fake lashes (if you already applied them). Remove clumps using an eyelash comb.
