Simple Clean Eating Tips For Pro Cheerleaders
Part of your job as a professional leader is to take good care of your body. Today, we'll be talking about your food choices. Are you being mindful of what you eat? Do you consider the benefits or consequences of everything you consume for your cheerleading career?
Clean eating is such a buzzword among fitness enthusiasts. People choose to eat clean for several reasons. They want to lose weight, have clearer skin, feel good about themselves, stay energized, and avoid disease. If these are among your pro cheerleading goals, you need to start eating clean as well.
What Is Clean Eating?
Clean eating is about getting rid of or limiting unhealthy, processed foods and replacing them with fresh and natural foods. It's about fueling your body with the right stuff to achieve long-term health.
The truth is that it's nearly impossible to adopt a perfect diet. However, you should always strive to eat natural ones as often as possible.
Processed food and drinks are everywhere. It's also not right to deprive yourself of your favorite oatmeal just because it's "processed." When you're faced with this situation, the trick is to go for a healthier option. Between oatmeal versus fries, you know what to pick!
Simple Ways To Eat (and drink) Clean
Tip 1: Drink lemon water to kick-start your day.
Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning has amazing benefits for your body. A simple mix of freshly squeezed organic lemon and a glass of warm water, this healthy drink helps control your weight. Lemon is known to contain pectin, a soluble fiber that allows you to feel full for a longer period of time.

Dr. Axe also recommends adding cucumbers to your lemon water. Lemon and cucumber taste good together. Cucumbers help flush out toxins. They fight inflammation from your body as a result of your stress - from your day job to your pro cheerleading career.
For the rest of your day, drink liters of clean water!
Tip 2: Cut down your sugar intake.
Limiting your sugar intake is one of the best clean eating methods you can follow to prevent liver damage and diabetes. Sugar basically contains empty calories which mean that it offers no real nutritional value.
Sugar also harms your oral health by causing tooth decay. This results from the bacteria in your mouth that feeds on sugar. Remember how important it is to keep your teeth beautiful for that great smile during game days and appearances.
And if you think sugar has no impact on your brain and emotions, you're totally mistaken. Artificially sweetened food and drinks can actually cause a spike in your blood sugar levels, making you really energized for a while. You'll feel cranky once the burst of energy subsides. Sugar makes you anxious and impedes your learning.
Get rid of sodas, jams, candies, cookies, cakes, and other pastries. Replace these junk foods with fresh options like fruits. Just go easy on the tropical ones. Blueberries and raspberries are the best.
Tip 3: Load up on vegetables.
If you want to speed up your weight loss and keep your mind and body working at their best, fill half your plate with veggies. Vegetables offer these benefits for your cheerleading goals:
- Smaller waistline and a leaner look
- Younger-looking skin
- More energy
- Lesser mood swings
- Better digestive health
- Stronger bones
