Step 1 – Understand the difference between interested and committed.
It is true that a lot of people are intrigued by the multitude of possibilities that are in front of them. Most of the time, we want to grab these opportunities because of the promises they hold. Goals are achieved when a person is committed, not just interested.
Here are a few differences between interest and commitment you should understand:
- Interest means reading fitness tips and watching fitness videos. Commitment means applying those learnings day in and out.
- Being simply interested can create procrastination. Commitment is doing the work regardless of a personal situation.
- You tend to make excuses when you’re only interested. Commitment always finds solutions.
Step 2 – Realize that you already know enough.
The perfect moment rarely comes. So, it’s not right to complain that you need to be fully prepared, to be enough, in order to take action. If you simply wait for the “right time,” you will never be able to reach your goals. Whatever tips that you have learned about becoming a successful cheerleader, put them into action at this very moment. The key is to maximize the knowledge that you have – to bring it to its fullest potential. If you do this, you get great results.
Step 3 – Focus on what is important.
We all feel that certain “pressure” to get what we want. Along the way, we lose sight of the end goal because of so many things on our to-do list. In order to become the professional cheerleader that you dream of, it’s important to be extra selective about the things you invest your attention on. At this point in time, what’s the one thing you should develop more? Is it your flexibility? Then do a little more to develop it. Join flexibility classes near you. If not, purchase videos that you can watch and follow at home.
Step 4 – Hold yourself accountable.
If you think having the motivation to succeed is enough, you’re mistaken. Personal drive can take you somewhere but it cannot sustain you over the long term. Practicing accountability is the solution. To hold yourself accountable, let the people around you know what you’re up to. Join a social community such as Pro Cheer Life or other fitness forums where you can engage with others who share the same goals.
Step 5 – Make your goals specific.
The first and most important element of effective goal setting is specificity. Goals that are vague confuse you. Let’s say that one of your pro cheerleading goals is to lose weight. How much weight do you need to lose? What are your exact action steps to make that come true? Specific goals help you stay committed and on-course.
