It’ll look patchy and uneven since makeup doesn’t get absorbed properly. If you’re dealing with dry skin today, here’s a quick fix: Apply an extra-hydrating moisturizer. Just remember not to apply it excessively or else you’ll get a greasy effect.

You may not realize this but moisturizing your skin reduces its susceptibility to damage in harsh weather. By drinking water regularly and applying a high-quality moisturizer, you keep the oils in your skin so that your skin doesn’t irritate. For pro cheerleaders who live in cold and dry weather, industry experts recommend lip balms, moisturizing face oils, hydrating masks, and base layer moisturizers.

A great way to end your hot shower.

Do you love taking a hot shower after a long, stressful day? Hot showers feel refreshing and help you relax but they strip off moisture from your skin. To combat this, make it a habit to apply a moisturizing lotion that works for your skin type right after showering. Pay more attention to vulnerable areas such as your elbows, knees, and extremities.

5 Moisturizing Tips You Should Follow 

Now that you know the positive effects of properly hydrated skin, here are five simple tips to follow – whether you’re at home, work, or just about to head over to your pro cheer rehearsal.

  • Limit hot showering to no more than 10 minutes – Again, we mentioned that hot showers can strip off moisture. By keeping your time short, you decrease the risk of drying out your skin.
  • Don’t rely on price alone – Not all expensive moisturizers suit you best. There are beauty products you can afford and do wonders for your skin. Check if your moisturizer matches your skin type. You can even make your own moisturizer at home.
  • Apply eye cream – The skin under your eyes are so delicate that they need to be moisturized. To prevent wrinkles, choose an eye cream that stimulates collagen production.
  • Use a few drops of olive oil – Olive oil is a great moisturizer. It contains antioxidants that work hand in hand with your skin to keep it strong and protected. Apply a few drops to delicate areas of your body (face, elbows, and back of your arms).
  • Nourish with avocado – If you have dry and flaky skin, consider mashing avocado and applying it to flaky areas. Avocado contains a ton of beneficial nutrients such as vitamin C and E.
