What Might Be Missing in Your Fitness Regimen?

Here you are, preparing for the upcoming pro cheer tryouts. You know that fitness is one of the things that judges look for, and so you’ve started following a routine. Imagine that you’re crushing it at the gym. If you’re super busy, you have found ways to incorporate exercise into your day.

The truth is, not all fitness plans are perfect. There might be aspects which you’re missing that will make your fitness results even better. Want ideas? Here are some of them:

1. Compound exercises

Compound exercises are basically exercises that engage multiple muscle groups. They simulate day-to-day activities. Examples of these exercises are squats, deadlifts, and jump rope. Compound exercises burn more calories, build muscle fast, and allow you to move easier. If you want an efficient and complete workout, be sure to include compound exercises.

2. Solid information

When it comes to fitness advice, many people, in general, aren’t so sure about what to believe in. There are a lot of myths circulating the internet and they can keep you from working out safely and getting the best results. If you can, get advice from a certified fitness trainer. When you visit fitness websites to learn new things, make sure that their blog articles have been fact-checked by medical professionals.

3. Action

While thoughts are a great starting point for success, the Universe rewards action. After reading and researching about your dream cheer team and other audition tips, take action right away. For example, if today, you’ve learned some arm exercises without weights, try at least one workout today and make a habit out of it. That way, you develop a solid pattern of behavior.

4. Hydration

If you’re going to sweat a lot, always have a bottle of water with you. A slight reduction in your hydration levels will decrease your focus, strength, and overall performance. Have some sports drinks too to replace your lost electrolytes especially if you workout for longer.

5. Flexibility

Why should you include flexibility exercises in your fitness routine? Being flexible prevents you from getting injured during quick and awkward movements. In fact, you’re supposed to work on flexibility until you grow old. Aside from preventing injuries, it gives your muscles a leaner look and improves your posture. Here’s a list of flexibility exercises that are worth trying out today.

6. High-quality diet

In a previous post, I talked about how one can never justify bad indulgences by exercising. One exercise session cannot make up for bad eating habits. To be your healthiest and fittest self, you need to make good daily dietary choices. Prioritize whole foods, cut out refined sugar, and stay away from anything that’s packaged and processed.

7. Rest and recovery

Let me ask you a question: Do you feel guilty taking a day off from working out? If so, you might be overtraining yourself. Rest days are essential simply because they allow your body to heal and regain strength so you can give your best effort during the next workout session.
