What's Zapping Your Energy?
Whether you're an aspiring or current pro cheerleader, you know how important energy is. Rarely do we make good decisions, accomplish our daily tasks, and achieve our goals if we're drained. You may not be aware of it, but there are things that zap your energy. These things keep you from living your best day.
If you desire to have more energy so you can give your all on the area or audition day, read this article.
7 Energy Zappers to Avoid
1. Sugary foods
It's no secret that the kind of food you eat impacts your energy levels. If you feel sluggish and moody, you might be consuming a lot of sugar in your diet. Foods that are surprisingly loaded with sugar include breakfast cereals, low-fat products, pre-made soups, and granola.
2. Overthinking
Are you often overwhelmed? That could be because of overthinking. Overthinking takes a toll on your mind and body. Simplify your thoughts and learn to stand by your decisions. Think of what can go right in your day!
3. Perfectionism
Maybe you've made progress with your fitness, but you only see mistakes. Or you've mastered the basic movements of Hip-Hop dance, but you still think you're a bad dancer. Putting tremendous pressure on yourself causes burnout.
4. Overcommitting
Aspiring and current pro cheerleaders alike juggle many balls. You could be a mother, student, or professional and strive to live your dream. To prevent overwork, you need to decide what to prioritize. Realize that time is a finite resource and that it deserves to be spent on things that matter.
5. You're dehydrated
Even mild dehydration can cause tiredness. Carry a water bottle with you wherever you go. Whether you're going out for a walk or working at the office, stay hydrated. Studies show that people feel better by simply drinking more water.
6. Staying up late
Repeatedly staying up late at night leaves you feeling exhausted the following day. A brain that's well-rested is able to perform its best. Staying up late also encourages late-night eating. And guess what? You're likely to eat unhealthy foods.
7. Multitasking
Shifting your attention from one thing to another drains your energy reserves. If you're researching about your dream pro cheer team, do just that. Don't check social media or watch random YouTube videos. You get the idea.
