15 Ways To Stay Active With A Busy Schedule

Is your daily schedule so filled that you have no time to hit the gym? Are you afraid you’ll gain weight from not being able to workout? Don’t worry, you can still stay fit without putting too much time into exercising. All you need to do is follow the tips below and eat healthily.

1. Do a yoga routine while watching T.V. before bed

Yoga helps in releasing all your mental and physical stresses which can make you drowsy. It also improves your sleep quality and lengthens sleep duration. And since most people choose Netflix as their favorite pre-bedtime activity, it will be a smart move to incorporate yoga along with it.

2. Do your chores

Cleaning your entire house may not be a form of exercise but it will still make you sweat a lot.

3. Take the stairs

Ditch escalators and elevators. Challenge yourself by taking the path less traveled.

4. Walk or bike to destinations

Going to the grocery, school, office, or your friend’s house? Bike or walk to these places especially if they’re near to your home.

5. Get off a stop early

If your destination is far, disembark your commute one or two stops before the place you’re going to and walk to it.

6. Park your car a few streets away

Walk three or four blocks from your parking spot to your destination. It’s also good to park your car at the farthest spot from the building’s entrance.

7. Track your steps

It’s good to achieve 10,000 steps a day but it’s better to do 18,000 to 20,000 daily for optimal pro cheer fitness. To measure how many steps you take as your day progresses, wear a smartwatch.

8. Play active video games

PlayStation 4, Xbox, or Wii U have applications with workouts to follow and games for dancing. I recommend playing Just Dance 2020 as this game will help you improve your dance skills and give you an idea for choreography to showcase at the auditions.

Active video games are also fun to play and won’t take too much of your time!

9. Schedule your workouts in the morning

There is a chance that your afternoon exercising session will be derailed due to some events during the day. So wake up early to do your morning habits for weight loss where there are no distractions yet. Morning exercise will also help you stay energized throughout the day.

10. Stretch out

While you’re prepping your pro cheer meals, working at the office, or studying, don’t forget to stretch. Stretching will temporarily increase your heart rate which refocuses your mind and help you burn some calories.

11. Work on a standing, treadmill, or stationary bike desk

Sitting alone while working and studying is boring, unhealthy, and ruins your pro cheer posture. Your feet should exert effort as you learn and earn money. Stand, walk, or cycle while you do desk activities. You can also use a mini exercise bike where you can keep on cycling while sitting.

12. Combine breaks with short walks

When you’re taking a break, don’t just sit down and relax. Get out and walk around your building. Go to the rooftop or top floor.

13. Walk to the person you want to talk to

Whether it’s your colleague or classmate, don’t send them a chat message, email, or SMS if you want to talk. Go to them. As a bonus to this, you’re improving your social skills which boost your speaking confidence for the auditions.

14. Stand up while you’re on the phone

Get up and pace around your office or room while you’re having a call. Don’t sit down until the call ends.

15. Keep resistance bands or small weights on your desk

Strengthen your muscles as you read a book in a library or wait for a file to be uploaded in the office.

Whatever you’re doing whether you’re at work, school, or home, always aim to minimize your sitting time. Find fitness activities that you can do together with your study or work sessions. Don’t ride a car or public transportation to get to places. Make it your daily goal to reach 18,000 steps!
