5 Effortless Ways to Live a Lifestyle of Fitness
Anyone can lose body fat, build muscle, and improve their health. You can probably relate when someone says, “I want to shed pounds before summer” or “I want to get pro cheerleader audition fit.” The real challenge is in maintaining the results of your hard work.
While living the fitness lifestyle seems impossible, it can actually be achieved through small, simple changes that turn into habits that stick. Whether you’re an aspiring pro cheerleader or are already one, here’s what you need to know.
1. Find a routine that makes you happy.
Enjoyment is a vital component of staying consistent with your food choices and workouts. If you don’t enjoy what you do in the first place, you’ll find it difficult to sustain those positive behaviors, especially after you’ve achieved your short-term goals. Better yet, decide on a workout schedule, plan, and nutrition that makes you feel comfortable.
2. Don’t turn to extremes.
In other words, “go big or go home.” This all-or-nothing mentality doesn’t only put unnecessary pressure on you, but it’s also exhausting and will likely lead to burnout. Instead of seeing failure as the enemy (for example, you promised yourself to have just one drink but you ended up having more), see quitting as the enemy. Setbacks are normal. Plus, you don’t need excessive amounts of stress in your life to be successful.
3. Challenge yourself by setting new goals from time to time.
Another tip that will help you make fitness a way of life is to create new goals. For instance, you could set a mini-goal each week that will take you closer to your bigger goal. It can be as simple as “staying hydrated throughout the day,” “getting at least 10k steps,” or “doing a ten-minute cardio workout first thing in the morning.” This is a great way to keep you on track and it will remind you of how much you’re capable of!
4. Embrace rest and recovery.
Some athletes and fitness enthusiasts are afraid to take time away from the gym. But the reality is that hard workouts (and nutrition weight loss strategies like calorie restriction and macro counting) can push your limits physically and psychologically. Days off allow your body to recharge, heal, and improve its performance.

5. Learn to make the necessary modifications.
Even though we set plans, anything can happen that will change the course of your direction. Here’s a basic scenario: You planned to go to the gym at a certain time but something else (that’s important) needed your attention. In these situations, it’s essential to be flexible — in other words, change your plan by rescheduling on the same day or doing a shorter workout. Remember that there are always alternatives that allow you to stay on top of your game, and it doesn’t have to be the one you originally had in mind.
