7 Things To Do When You Feel Uninspired And Stuck
Are you feeling trapped?
Are you having a hard time finding inspiration?
Is the day to day preparation to reaching your pro cheerleading dreams becoming a drag?
You’ve already had a couple of auditions and now, you’re preparing for another one. You feel like you haven’t progressed and now you’re starting to think maybe pro cheerleading isn’t for you.
That’s normal.
I mean, don’t we all have those days? It’s a phase that we all go through.
Routine can sometimes be a bore. Some failures may lead you into thinking that you’re not doing a good job at all. When you’re feeling this way, it’s easy to doubt your decision to become a pro cheerleader and the journey that you have already taken.
So what do you do when you’re feeling stuck and uninspired?
Here are my suggestions:
1. Acknowledge
Where are you now? What is happening? Allowing yourself to become fully aware of your situation and feelings is the first step to moving forward. When you know what is happening, you become more capable of figuring out ways on how to resolve things.
2. Go back to why you started
You are here because you want to be a pro cheerleader! Remember your whys. Remind yourself of that feeling when you first felt the calling to be one. Think about where you were before you started this journey and where you are now. Sure, you may be experiencing setbacks now and to be honest, there will be a few more in the future even when you’ve already reached your dream. It comes with life, cheerleading or not. So keep your hopes and dreams intact.
3. Focus on NOW
Naturally, the future seems all great and glamorous when you started. But when you’re feeling trapped, the future starts to look dim. Don’t look too far ahead, at least while you have this vibe. Focus on what you can do now.
4. Break it up!
What’s your goal? A lot of these tips can be applied in other scenarios, but right now, your goal is to become a pro cheerleader. And to achieve this dream, what are the steps that you need to take?
Wait! Steps? This is why you feel like it’s a drag right now. It’s because your goal seems so far up ahead.
What you can do is breakdown your main goal and create mini-goals. This is just a sample which might work for you too:
Goal #1: Fit body
Goal #2: Great skin
Goal #3: Hone dance skills
Goal #4: Audition
See, when you do it this way, you allow yourself to celebrate a little more compared to celebrating once.

5. Make an achievable timeline
Timelines have the potential to stress you or motivate you. Make it a motivation. You’ve already broken up your big goal into mini-goals. Not setting a timeline can sometimes lead to procrastination, and making unrealistic ones can lead to failure. So give yourself achievable due dates for every goal to keep you on track.
6. Flock with the same birds
Be with people who share your goals, motivate you and support you. Chances are these people have felt the same way that you did at one point, and they may also have tips on how they moved past it.
7. Find happiness and contentment
Lastly, you are doing a good job, not unless you’re sitting around and waiting for things to just happen. But you are here! You are working your way towards your goal. When you feel stuck, you feel like nothing’s happening. There is always progress when you’re moving and not quitting. You just have to see it and appreciate it.
Do not quit on your pro cheerleading dream over something that you may or may not feel any more in a day or two. Fight that feeling with these tips and see your outlook change for the better.
