Change Can Be Much Easier If You Follow These Tips

Do you think of progress as something that’s difficult to achieve? True, most of us associate the concept of change with struggle. But here’s good news for you: Change doesn’t have to be hard. Becoming the best version of yourself will be a painful journey if you put it that way. You can make change much easier, and that’s what we’re going to talk about today.

Whether you want to lose weight, increase your flexibility, and boost your physical appearance, whatever goal you have as an aspiring or current pro cheerleader - I’m here to tell you that transformation is just a few steps away. Stay with me in this article. Follow the tips below.

First and most important tip: Stop thinking that it is hard!

If you want real change in your life, start with your thoughts. Thoughts are so powerful that they can either hold you to the ground or lift you up. Remember that becoming a professional cheerleader, making your team, begins by choosing to think positive. Yes, everything is a choice including your thoughts. When doubtful thoughts cross your mind (“You can’t master those dance moves” or “You skipped a workout so you lose”) redirect your attention to the solution. Then you begin to see opportunities. Adopt healthy thought patterns and you will act accordingly.

Identify your top 3 barriers to change.

Humans have an incredible capacity to change and we all know it. But to achieve positive results means to know the biggest barriers that hold you back. Are you struggling to maintain an exercise regimen? Do you find yourself procrastinating because of the temptations that are right in front of you? It is easier to work on things if you make a list of them. At this point in your pro cheer life, identify 3 main areas you struggle with. Next, tie each struggle to a solution. Don’t attach any emotion to a particular problem. This helps you carry out solutions in a logical way.

Adjust your expectations - be realistic.

Have you ever wondered why over 70% of people make new year’s resolutions but only 8% get to keep them throughout the year? Here’s the answer: Their resolutions are way too ambitious considering the time frame or circumstance. You see, success doesn’t happen overnight. Success in your goals is a process, which is why setting the bar too high results in disappointment. Don’t make change hard by expecting that you can pull miracles. For example, if you are a full-time mom of 3 kids and want to work on fitness to join the Atlanta Falcons or Dallas Cowboys cheerleading auditions next year, you know that your fitness journey will look different from that of a college student.

Celebrate your accomplishments no matter how small they are.

Oftentimes we put too much focus on unmet goals that we take for granted the ones that have happened. Recognize what is working well in your life now as an aspiring or current pro cheerleader - and be inspired by it. Positive changes call for a celebration and when you do celebrate, you’re more motivated to make something better out of them. Did you just lose 3 pounds? Did you wake up early this morning for a run? Write them down. Share your progress on social media. Treat yourself out for a healthy smoothie.

Connect with the right human beings.

The last thing I want to emphasize about positive change is that it becomes easier when you are surrounded by winners. Get in touch, connect with, or join people and groups that work towards the same goals you do. Whether you choose a professional cheerleading support group like Pro Cheer Life or look for another fitness or cheer-related group, what’s important is that it puts you on the right track. Success is not just about having the right mindset (though it’s huge and the most important one), it’s also about being with people who can inspire you to raise your standards.
