Check out These Bad Dieting Tips You Should Ignore

Not everything you see and hear about dieting is good for your body. And when you’re getting ready to be fitter than ever for the upcoming pro cheer auditions, you’re hungry for the best pieces of dieting advice. This puts you at risk for choosing the wrong ones - especially if they’re pretty persuasive. Because sometimes, people just put out tips to mislead you and make some money. Get what I mean?

Below, I’ve compiled all the dieting misconceptions I often hear… and you need to know as well so you can ignore them. The bottom line is that your body deserves the right love and care to achieve fitness for the long term.

Stick to one food group.

Eat only tuna. Eat McDonald’s chicken nuggets everyday. Eat fruits only. If you exiled everything but one kind of food to limit calories, you’re making a huge mistake. There is no one food that can supply your body with all the nutrients it needs in order to achieve hormonal balance and help burn fat. The worst thing about adhering to one food group is that you become susceptible to illnesses!

If it worked for your friend or a celebrity, it’ll work for you.

Because every one of us has a unique genetic makeup, we respond to certain foods differently. What is “healthy” for you may not be healthy for another individual. Don’t blindly follow someone else’s protocol because it worked well for them. Only you have the ability to tell if a food is benefiting your body or not. All you have to do is pay close attention to how you feel after eating a certain food, your energy levels, and weight over time.

Don’t eat snacks.

Contrary to popular belief, snacking is important and can actually be used as a strategy to lose weight. The idea is that waiting too long before your next meal leads you to overeat. This is why taking a small snack helps curb hunger. To make snacking effective, do it with intention. Choose a high-protein snack to keep your blood sugar levels stable. Prep it in advance. Check your portions.

Eat less and exercise more.

Science has proved that achieving a calorie deficit results in weight loss. This is why most of us think that eating less and exercising more is the key to long-term weight loss. If you want long-term effects, focusing on calories is not the answer. The fact is that only a small number of people actually lose a lot of weight and keep it off for a long time. Focus on the quality of the foods you eat and your diet will create a healthier body. Change your relationship with food.
