Feel the Stress of Trying to Reach Your Goals? Here Are Tips to Deal with It

Stress, even hearing and the thought of the word alone causes it. People deal with stress every day and anyone who prepares for a future audition is no exception.

Stress is mostly caused by discouragement but whatever the reason is, you know it’s really not pleasant. One scenario is that you keep sabotaging your workouts because of procrastination or you try too hard. Today, we share tips on how you can deal with the stress of reaching your pro cheer goals:

1. Plan and execute with your best but don’t expect too much

You can achieve your goals through careful planning and doing your all to succeed. Though you have to set a disclaimer for yourself that no matter what you do, there is always a chance for that not to go as intended. This is one important tip to avoid the feeling of stress. If you intend to lose 20 lbs. but only lost 5 lbs, look on the bright side. Consider lowering the bar (being realistic about what you can or can't do) or re-evaluating your strategy.

2. Be aware of what stresses you

Awareness is a powerful thing because it allows you to seek solutions to a problem. It's like looking at yourself from the outside. If you feel stressed out that you might not be able to achieve the kind of weight loss you expect, ask yourself, "What is the cause of my worries? Is it rational? What triggers my stress? How can I avoid this trigger?"

3. Change your reaction to stress

Do you like lazing out or binge eating when you’re stressed? Stop it - you are only adding salt to the wound. Stress piles even more if you react to a bad situation in an absurd way. So react to it with a solution in hand. If you’re not losing weight faster because you have less time for a workout or you ate too many calories while hanging out with your friends, seek a solution instead. It's not the end of the world. How can you make today better?

4. Build and maintain your physical and emotional reserves

It's important not to drain yourself in the process. So, rest when your body deserves to. Be around people who impact your life positively. Live, laugh and love. Eat foods you love that love you back

5. Talk about it if you have to and don’t keep it to yourself

Having nobody to share your worries with can make things more complicated than they should be. Find a supportive family member or friend you to share your thoughts and feelings with. Knowing that someone is there to listen brings immediate relief. Read encouraging quotes. Join a supportive group online.

Hopefully, these tips will help you deal with the pressure of trying to be the best you can for the auditions. True, working towards a goal can bring out the best and worst in you. My final advice would be for you to maintain a purposeful focus so that you stay positive. Realize that change is possible and you have the power to have whatever you want to achieve - without feeling overburdened.
