Here’s How to Calendar Your Way to Pro Cheer Success (Monday-Sunday Routine)
Whether it’s officially audition season or you still got a year ahead of you, it’s no secret that preparation is key to success. If you’re ready, it’s time to sit down and plan your week.
With planning, calendars can be more effective than regular to-do lists in that you get to see those daily actions as stepping stones to reaching your goal = making the team on the BIG DAY, as marked with a huge X on your calendar.
Let’s start with your weekly preparation. What does it look like? If you need ideas to get started, Pro Cheer Life has some for you today. Use the week below as inspiration to make your best personalized plan!
1. Monday - Workout (Aerobic)
Dominate mondays by working up a sweat. Engage in aerobic exercises that burn fat and improve your cardiovascular efficiency. The best workouts to try include running, HIIT workouts, swimming, and running. Do any of these movements depending on where you’ll be on a Monday - at home, the gym, or traveling.
2. Tuesday - Research Your Dance Team (and the Sport)

Tuesdays are for learning more about your dream pro cheer team. Have you decided already? Most of the time, aspiring pro cheerleaders audition for a team based on where they’re located. But regardless, what details should you look for in a team?
- Dance routine
- Current look (hairstyle, hair color, makeup)
- Audition attire
- Team coaches
- Team colors
- Team championships
A great place to find all the information (from news to cheerleaders) you need would be the team website. Be sure to take notes so that you don’t forget them! Dedicate one Tuesday for a specific type of information so it’s easier to focus and master everything.
3. Wednesday - Workout (Strength)
Scared to add weights to your workout routine? There’s no need to. In fact, weight training boosts your physical capacity, promotes long-term weight-loss, and gives you more energy! Speaking of energy, you need A LOT of it to maintain a great performance throughout the audition week - and for your future pro cheer experiences.
Start with bodyweight exercises before you do dumbbells or barbells. (You might be interested in: Thinking About Lifting Weights? Here's What You Should Know)
4. Thursday - Experiment with Your Look
Now it’s time to plan your ideal audition look. Review the “look” of your target dance team based on what you researched on Tuesday. Take time to master beauty skills so that you show up as a PRO on the big day. Some skills to master include self-tanning, applying false eyelashes, covering up skin imperfections, and styling your hair.
5. Friday - Workout (Flexibility)
Having a flexible body allows you to achieve a greater range of motion. You need this for your high kicks and fast dance moves. Most importantly, flexibility protects you from getting injured. Take up yoga classes or follow instructional videos at home. I’ve also written up some helpful reminders.
6. Saturday - Inspiration and Motivation
Even when you’re spending the entire day at home, dedicate 30 minutes to reading a good resource on Professional Cheerleading, watching inspirational videos, and looking up motivational quotes. These things will keep you going. You can also journal your thoughts… or review your progress so far!

7. Sunday - Workout (Balance)
Just because it’s a sunday, doesn’t mean you can skip a workout! Don’t worry, stability exercises aren’t draining. And yes, you need to improve your balance to prevent injuries. Try the one-legged squat reach, leg swings, liftoff, and single-leg deadlifts.
