Are you the kind of aspiring pro cheerleader who works on her audition prep according to her mood? If you are, then this article is right for you. You’ll find techniques and strategies that would ensure your continuation of accomplishing your audition prep tasks below. Some of these strategies require sticky notes. So go get your pen, paper, and prepare to list down what we might require of you.

1. Write down your audition goals every morning

Repeating to write down your goals every morning serves not only as a daily reminder. It also helps in conditioning your brain to think about your goals even without a reminder in the long run. Once your head is accustomed to the constant repetition of you wanting to be a pro cheerleader, you’ll automatically work on them with no questions asked.

2. Read your audition goals at least once daily

Another way to condition your brain is to read your written goals especially before you start your daily routine. In the short-run, you set your mind straight to doing your morning workout before anything else. Getting on the track of doing them immediately becomes easier as well.

3. Keep a list of your goals in front of you all the time

The more unmotivated you become, the more inclined you are to get your goals done with this technique. Imagine seeing your makeup application practice schedule everywhere you go, and it won’t go away unless you work on it. Wouldn’t that prompt you to start practicing? That is why after writing your goals and tasks down, stick it to a place where you’re guaranteed to see it often. A phone wallpaper, mirror frame, laptop screen, or a wall in your office cubicle are good examples of places to post your goals.

4. Make the tasks of your goals simple

The lack of motivation can be caused by an overwhelming and vague ambition. That is why it’s important to break your entire goal down into smaller tasks. For example, to achieve the goal of having a healthy diet, start with the task of stocking up vegetables, fruits, and lean meat. Write the next task as chopping down the goods you bought. Then write the following task of mixing and storing the chopped goods into small food containers. Include the recommended weight of each container for healthier portioning.

5. Figure out the “WHY?” for your goals

This is the most important part of motivating yourself. Always find the strongest reason why you have your pro cheer goals and why you want to accomplish them. Don’t let it be due to external factors like because somebody else told you to. The proper way to find a strong answer to your “why?” is to reason that you’re doing this for yourself. You do what you do because it is your personal dream and nobody else’s.

6. Don’t wait for the right mood and ignore your feelings

Inspiration and motivation come to us vaguely. It may arrive immediately or after a very long time. Yet, there’s no rule to be happy first before performing a task. The lack of enthusiasm could occur anytime to you as you work on completing your audition prep list. If you dislike an audition prep task, there’s nothing you can really do about it aside from getting it done. It won’t go away unless you finish it and ignoring it will lead to your incompleteness when audition day comes. So, ignore your feeling of dislike and start doing your tasks when its schedule comes.

7. List down the positive outcomes of achieving your goal

Getting things done for the sake of achieving a goal isn’t motivating enough. Always associate some positive effects to individual tasks and the major goal. For example, as part of your audition prep goal, you should practice public speaking. So what are the positive effects of this task? You gain self-confidence right? List it down along with your audition prep task.

8. Get proper sleep

Fatigue will worsen your lack of motivation. Always aim to sleep from at least 6 to 8 hours every night. Sleeping for too many hours is just as bad as a few hours of sleep. Always stick to a regular sleeping schedule especially if your workouts are assigned on morning hours.
