Makeup Hacks To Hide Dark Circles
It's common knowledge that professional cheerleaders have a busy lifestyle. Most pro cheerleaders wake up early to train and exercise, and some sleep late at night because they have to finish their studies or work.
So it's not surprising when you wake up having a zombie-like face with dark, puffy under-eye circles. It can be frustrating, especially when it becomes a regular part of your pro cheer life.
Fortunately, there are solutions to eliminate the puffiness under your eyes. You can go to the dermatologist and ask for their recommendations regarding supplements or medications. But if you want a quick fix, correctly applying under-eye makeup is the best way. Here are some makeup hacks to help you hide your eye bags and circles.
1. Moisturize with an eye cream.
First, you need to hydrate and nourish your under-eye area to avoid having dry skin. If you don't, your concealer will sit on top rather than sink in, making your skin look tired and pale. Eye creams are made specifically to moisturize the delicate area of your face. In addition, it brightens your skin and preps the skin for the following makeup step.
Note that different eye creams treat different types of under-eye conditions. If you're dealing with puffiness, apply some under-eye gels for a cooling and de-puffing effect. If you have dark circles due to sun damage, use an eye cream with AHA that helps lighten your skin.
2. De-puff the eyes with ice-bags
Like under-eye gels, ice packs or rollers kept in the refrigerator can be used to reduce the puffiness around your eyes. Massage the area around the eyes using the ice pack. It has a cooling effect that helps constrict the blood vessels.
3. Use a foundation
After prepping your face, use a foundation and blend a thin layer under your eyes. Look for a color that matches your skin tone, then blend it with a damp beauty sponge. Note that a full coverage can hide your dark circles more thoroughly compared to a sheer-coverage foundation or BB effect.
4. Color correct the dark circles
If you have dark circles, sometimes a foundation isn't enough. Instead, add a color corrector to make the foundation and concealer more effective. A corrector cancels out the hyperpigmentation around your eyes. This also allows you to use less product and avoid a thick layer of concealer. Use complementary colors to cancel out the dark circles. You may opt for peach, yellow, and orange hues.
5. Blend in a concealer
Apply a creamy liquid concealer to brighten up the under-eye. Choose a concealer that's a bit closer to your skin tone. Try the inverted-triangle hack, where instead of applying the concealer in a semi-circle shape, draw an inverted triangle to completely disguise the shadows. Wait about 10 seconds, then blend using your ring finger.
Conclusion
These hacks, except eye cream, are only quick fixes that hide your eye bags and dark circles. If you want to completely get rid of them, you first need to identify the cause. Ask your dermatologist for advice, and most importantly, get enough sleep to avoid under-eye swelling.
