5 Time-Saving Makeup Application Tips if You're Always on the Go
Once you set your eyes on the path of pro cheerleading, you can expect to have a fuller schedule, especially if you have a main career, are a college student, or taking care of a child. These responsibilities can make it challenging to ensure you look great all the time — in other words, applying makeup. That's on top of things like audition prep and workout sessions.
The fact is, wearing cosmetics is the industry’s standard and there’s no escaping that. Makeup is essential for live performances, military tours, dance rehearsals, community services, and other important events where your presence is needed. That said, we're here to help make your life easier by sharing tips on applying makeup so that they last long and won’t require many touch-ups.
1. Start with your eyes
If you know how devastating eye makeup can be to your face makeup when applied last, then you must start putting the former on first. You don’t want to waste time brushing and wiping off your smudged mascara, liner, fall-out glitter, and shadow powder without messing up your foundation and cheek blush.
2. Use your lip tint as a cheek blush
Speaking of cheek blush, you can use your lip tint (if you prefer it over lipstick) to add a flush of color to your face. The redness pops better than powder blushes while helping you save money and space in your makeup kit. However, lip tint as a cheek blush is difficult to manage and blend. Which is why as early as now, you should practice the application to perfection.
3. Use vaseline or lip balm as a brow tamer
Thick eyebrows are all fun and games until they don’t cooperate. And the worst thing is that they rebel at unexpected times with you having no product to deal with them. Luckily, you can use a lip balm for a quick, easy, and safe fix. It’s also a great way to keep your brows conditioned and moisturized.
4. Use an all-in-one SPF foundation
Ditch makeup application patterns that require a lot of pre-foundation routines. An all-in-one SPF foundation is enough for helping you become ready within 20 minutes since they already have toning, moisturizing, and priming properties.
5. Swap liquid eyeliners with pencils
Eyeliner smudges are one of the most time-wasting cosmetics to put on. Not to mention that if you make a smudge, you’ll spend additional time wiping it off. Use the safest and proven to be less-risky eyeliner type — the pencil.
The only caveat of pencil eyeliners is that they take a few more minutes or seconds to put on before you can get that darker and richer pigment. Slow and steady wins the race.
The best tip we can give for applying makeup fast is through regular practice. So have a cosmetic kit with uniform content. Then, be familiar with everything. On days when you don’t have much to do, try to challenge yourself by putting on a full pro cheerleader’s makeup in under 20 minutes. Once you’re able to do it perfectly, challenge yourself again. This time, do it in under 10 minutes.
