Makeup Tutorial: How to Create Simple Smokey Eyes

On arena performances, pro cheer teams don’t use oversized earloops or dazzling earrings. These decors can easily detach and fly off, causing distraction. The same goes for pro cheer auditions.
To compensate for something equally dazzling on one’s beautiful face, smokey eyes are the best bet substitute for a glittering effect. There are different styles of smokey eyes for you to use. You have the glittery gold, glittery silver, glittery any color, or just plain black.
But not every woman is a master at making one for her own. Some inexperienced self-makeup artists end up looking like pandas or someone who just got out of a catfight. To avoid looking like the two, follow the tips below for a complete tutorial. Don’t worry, the steps to follow are all relatively easy.
1. Apply primer
Always start with a clean base. Applying the primer makes it easy for all kinds of makeup to stick to your skin. It also helps the eyeshadow blend efficiently.
2. Blend a creamy concealer
Apply some creamy concealer on your eyelids to even out discoloration. This step is important and would only necessarily apply to those with dark circles.
3. Apply a lighter transition shade with a blending brush
Start by applying transition color with a warm peachy shade on your eyelids. Spread the shade on your eyelid and crease using a tapered blending brush with a soft windshield motion.
4. Apply a warm medium brown transition shade
Move on by applying the next transition shade. Use a warm medium brown if you’re slightly tanned. The warm medium brown shade makes the smokey eye more dramatic and flattering. Blend the shade with the same soft windshield motion using the tapered brush. Avoid blending the shade on your eyelid.
5. Apply a deep rich plum transition shade
Deepen the crease on your eyelids by blending a deep rich plum shade. This step of shading is important because it’s the final transition from the brown to the black. Avoid blending the shade on your eyelid here as well.
Use the method of the soft windshield motion and tapered brush to blend the deep rich plum color on your creases for a seamless and flawless finish.
6. Draw a black eyeliner on your eyelid above the lashes
Use a jumbo black eyeliner for this. If you’ve done steps 3-5 right, you’ll notice a very light blank space above your eyelashes and on your eyelid. Draw the eyeliner there.
7. Blend the black eyeliner into the shaded base
Use a synthetic brush to blend the eyeliner upward until it reaches the deep rich plum area. This will make your black eyeshadow stay on all day and it will look blacker and smokier.
8. Apply the black eyeshadow
Disperse the eyeshadow near the lash line and upward towards the crease and the other shades. On the other shades and crease, blend the eyeshadow nicely and evenly.
9. Attach lash extensions
I suggest you ask a friend to help you with this especially if this is your first time. But if you’re adept with eyelash extensions, be sure to use the right adhesive and the ideal lash length. You can also opt-out to skip this step or apply the lashes after applying the concealer.
10. Repeat steps 1 to 8 on your lower eyelids
On your bottom eyelids do all the procedures from step one to two. It is important your shading must not go far too downward. When applying the plum and black shade, use a small pencil brush. Keep the black shadow close to your lower lash line.
11. Add a little black eyeliner to the waterline
Draw a black eyeliner on your bottom eye waterline and lash line lightly. Then, even and blend the black with the small pencil brush. Finish it off by adding a little coat of mascara on your bottom eyelash.
Experiment different transition shades based on your chosen eyeshadow first. This makeup tutorial will usually take 10-15 minutes or even longer for beginners. Practice smokey eye application every day so you can master it and make it a 7-minute application.
