9 Hacks for Growing Fuller and Longer Lashes
At PRO CHEER LIFE™, we don’t only aim to guide you to be a fit pro cheerleader, but we also make it our mission to provide beauty tips that you can use from audition preparation and beyond.
We’ve already covered tips on how to take good care of your hair. Now, it’s time to discuss how to grow your eyelashes into a stunning part of you. It will grow so beautiful that others might mistake it for small extensions!
1. Use olive oil
Olive oil has emollients which are essential fatty acids that contribute to hair growth. Apply the oil to your eyelashes with a disposable mascara brush daily to soften and moisturize your lashes. Then, watch them grow in 4-6 weeks.
2. Use an eyelash growth serum
There are a lot of eyelash growth serums in the market for you to choose from. Some have castor, marula, argan, or vitamin oil in it. Prices range from $10-$18. However, serums need to be applied daily even when your lashes have stopped growing as your hair will return to its normal size when you stop using the serum.
3. Don’t use mascara
Mascara is made up of chemicals and they dry your eyelashes. When you remove it, you need to wipe or pull it off which removes your eyelashes as well. It’s even worse for you if you sleep with it on as the mascara will stiffen your hair causing it to fall off. Not to mention it could scratch your cornea while you sleep as well.
4. Don’t use extensions
Extensions use adhesives. And when you remove them, you’re also removing your natural eyelashes in the process. It is best to settle for a simple metal curler as a substitute for fake eyelashes.
5. Comb your eyelashes
Combing or brushing your eyelashes twice a day stimulates lash growth. When you’re using oils, it also helps in distributing the oil to all strands and along the length of the lashes.
6. Try coconut oil
Known to protect and moisturize your hair, coconut oil seems to not only do wonders to one’s crown but also can make eyelashes healthy as well. It doesn’t harm your eyes as other serums do. Instead, it makes your eyelashes thicker to the point it can compete with lash-styling tools and other cosmetics.
7. Take Biotin supplements
Some hair problems stem from nutrition deficiencies. Even if you don’t do cosmetics, not getting enough vitamins can make your hair weak as it grows. Biotin supplements aren’t backed by science that much, but there are a lot of people who claim that it helps in hair growth.
8. Consider a lash-boosting mascara
When I told you not to use mascara, I meant the generic ones that provide nothing but temporary beauty. There is a new type of mascara out there that not only makes your lash look prettier but it also nourishes them by mixing makeup and serum.
Check out this lash-boosting mascara from Simply Naked Beauty.
9. Practice proper face hygiene
Don’t sleep with your makeup on. Always wash your face after you wake up and before you go to bed. When washing makeup off your face, use micellar water. If that’s unavailable, normal water will do. Don’t rub your eyes for drying. Just pat them. Rubbing your eyes will cause your eyelashes to fall out.
For those with eye drop medications, it might cause your eyelashes to grow short or be damaged. It is best to contact your eye doctor about your concerns for growing eyelashes first. They may recommend a medicine that won’t interfere with your eyelash growth.
